| Though he looked OK against a very phsical pack on Monday - he even weighed in with a couple of bell ringers.
Poor miss on Horne for the final try but, aside from that, he looks to be turning into a decent SL forward after not many appearences. Still a little light for a prop, perhaps, but an excellent long term prospect.

| He still managed a knock on though. If he gets through two consecutive games without knocking on, I will believe he has started to make real progress!
Other than that, I agree with you.

No, the one where he made a total muck up of the PTB. It was clearly his knock on. No doubt about it.
I didn't realise he had it stolen? I only remember Soliola losing the ball to a thief.

Ah that one.
Funnily that was one of those decisions that could have gone either way as Westerman left his knee In and could have easily been a pen to us.
He does need to work on a few things as all the kids do.
But I think he's come through a really tough period of games with great credit. Will do wonders for his development I hope.

That was the one where somebody had their hands in. I agree with you on his knock on count but in all fairness to the lad, that one wasn't his fault.

Oh, I agree. Like I say, it's just the knock ons! I think he's done one in every match, some more costly than others. But apart from that I think he is making nice, steady progress. I hope he keeps fit so that we can watch the progress continue.

Assuming it ever happens but when we start getting people back from injury I'd like to see him on a dual reg to help him keep developing

If we had a full squad, he'd probably be your 18th man. Certainly if we had a better injury situation then Dixon, Ashurst and McGennis will be competing for reletive scraps of game time and loan/dual reg would be sensible for at least one of them.

| To be fair to McGennis, the miss on Horne for the last try was actually 80% Jammers tackle to make. His lunge was more desperation as a last ditch attempt.

I must've been dazzled by adrenelin. I just remeber seeing McG prone on the reply as Horne broke clear.

| When I first saw this kid breaking into the Saints team, I thought to myself aye up Saints have got a good backrower there. But with series of injury's he's suffered and the game time that's cost him. It looks to have really set him back. He still shows good signs, such as the neat little offloads he produces. But it's so unfortunate for the lad that these injury's have set him back. You only have to look at Wigan's Liam Farrel and how much he has developed over the past 18 months by playing week in week out. And because of that Farrel for me has become one of the best backrowers in the league.

Hence I think he needs to go on a dual reg when we get more established players back.

Agreed - Jammer's miss.
He acknowledged that fact behind the sticks too by putting his hand up to his team mates.

| Graham was also partly responsible for the try that came from the Obst chip (or is that the same try you are talking about)
Graham didn't really read the danger and started his chase a fraction too late.
For those of you who missed it the tries are shown again on Sky Sports 4 at 6 p.m.

Agree, very slow to react there - no real urgency shown, he would have been favourite to collect that ball otherwise.

| He looks good to me, better than our other young back rowers in Dixon and Ashurst, but has a bit of size to be able to play prop IMO. If he has a free run with injuries, he'll develop into a good player for us.

| I maybe in a minority, but I thought Dixon showed promise last year. Megennis has the advantage of being a bit stockier. But maybe that's because he will develop into a prop, where as Dixon is more a natural back rower. He's been out for most of this year, injury I think so it's hard to compare on this year.
Just like we could not compare megennis last year.
The young forwards don't really get the early exposure that the backscan at 16 - 19 with limited appearances, they only tend to get games at 20/21, so it does not give them as much time to make an impact, or to gain experience.
I think with young forwards it's tough to call time on them before they hit 23, as they are in the hot stuff tackling wise from when they hit the first team.

i just think he "clocked off" for a second and that was enough. What made me think about it was his tremendous "read" of the danger situation late on in the Good Friday derby. Lomax put the short grubber kick in and Tomkins was onto it and away. Graham read the situation brilliantly and got back into a position to make the tackle.
Had he read the Obst play yesterday as well as did on Friday the try may well have been prevented, but perhaps I'm being a bit over critical (had Graham been subbed then?)

Blobby sums it up perfectly for me.
Although promising he didn't look 'laterally' mobile or to have much stamina when he came in last season.
The knee braces have gone and he looks a lot better this year.
Just hope he doesn't burn out and he is being flogged in the absence of Clough.
Dixon and Ashurst seem to have tailed off this season. I think they are on a wedge for fringe players
hence thay can't go dual reg and are stuck in the U20s.
Another Andy Platt / Clough type in the making.

Yes he was partly to blame from that little chip over by obst. He didn't see the danger then was to slow to react.
Thought jammer was pure world class when he came on for his final stint.

I was more disappointed with (the otherwise excellent) Wilkin for the chip through.
He could have chased the kick much harder and, if he'd got there before Obst, he'd certainly have been in a good position to make the tackle.
Mind you, lets not detract from a brilliant bit of play from Obst - you can over analyse these things.
