Have Saints won the lottery?

THE former site of a secondary school is to be transformed into a training centre of excellence for Saints rugby league club.
Plans to turn school buildings, off Hard Lane into training facilities, changing rooms and offices have been given the green light by planners.
Cowley Language College moved a short distance last year to a cutting edge £22m new school leaving classrooms on the former site unused.
Saints and the school, which has a proud rugby tradition, have been in negotiations over the past few years and planning permission has been secured.
The training base will be used by Saints players and juniors in the academy ranks.
Blueprints detail how the buildings will be altered to create areas such as a weight training gym, video classroom, players lounge and kitchen.
There will be offices for the Super League side’s coaching team, a physio room and even an ice bath area to help players’ aching bodies to heal.
Saints will depart their current training ground at Ruskin Drive at the end of the season and relocate at their new Cowley base.
Eamonn McManus, Saints chairman, believes the facility will ensure the club continue to compete at the sport’s top level for decades to follow.

Maurice Flasher talked about this elsewhere some time ago on these or the redvee forums.
From what i understand from people close to the club, the facilities Saints will put in place will be the envy of the rest of SL.
The star article covers the indoor stuff, but the outdoor training facilities are also likely to be best in class, so to speak.
I was wondering when Saints would announce this, as it is a very significant development. It should improve further on Saints formidable ability to develop talent within the club.

Saints I suppose, wait till you hear the cost.
There is another aspect to all this which I think could reap big rewards for young tallent at the club, if it comes to fruition. |

Not sure where I have heard/read this but I definitely have picked up on ideas of attracting talent from throught the country and boarding them in the facility and educating them at Cowley which would certainly cast our net wider in terms of looking for youngsters.
How it comes off remains to be seen but it is certainly looking very good for us at the moment  |

They will have to be pretty good to outdo dire's at Padgate College (nee University).
Let's hope they are bob on and well done to the club and town. |
