| As you know ive been raving about our U15 Squad for a few months now. Anyway today saw William and Beaumont high school from Warrington vs St Peter and Paul from Widnes in the Semi Final of the National Schools competition.
This meant Dougie Charnock (William and Beaumont) and Matty Fozard (St Peter and Pauls) played against each other for a place at Wembley. Both scored try's but Fozard kicked a goal off the touchline, while Charnock missed one from the touchline to give St Peter and Pauls a 12 - 10 victory.
Fozard also guided his schools u16 side to the final, so he could possibly play in both.
Our first game of the season BTW is on May the 8th vs Wigan at 11.30am. Im expecting us win easily.

Aren't the majority of the Wigan U15's from Orrell St' James who have been top performers at that age group?

Yes you do, some very pacey outside backs and they won the National cup this year beating Shaw Cross i think.
However Orrells best player is Jonny Griffiths (captain) he's also at Saints.

Well done, you obviously have great pride in the U15s, could you please let me know how the U16s got on against Leeds on the 25th, been on Saints site but no details posted as yet, One of the U16s team used to live near us, I like to follow his progress if possible, Hayden Jones his name and he is a really good kid, a credit to his parents and himself, he scored in the first game of the season. being in Brisbane at the moment its a little difficult to attend any of Saints matches

| The Thing is with Orrells U15 side is that they dont really have any stand out players. They have lots of very decent players that all play well in a team. I think Wigan have about 7 of them in their squad. Most of them are outside backs. Other teams have poor sides but with classy players that pull results out from nowhere. Such as Saddleworth who have Lewis Gailbraith and Ben White. Luckily we have Lewis at Saints (a star of the future i have no doubt) but Leeds have pinched Ben White from us. The guy is magical and i dont know the reason we lost him, i think his a Leeds fan.

32 - 12 we won. No Hayden Jones played but there was a Jack Jones ? Is that not him ?'"
No, both Jack and Hayden played and scored a try each in the win over Quins on the 8th April, Just for Rogues info, Hayden supports saints, as the old saying goes you have to keep up with the Jones's, incidentely they both play for Portico as well.
Many thanks for the score. kind regards John B

Thats the U16 highlights from the win Vs Leeds. Connor Dwyer who scores 2 try's is Bernard Dwyers son.'"
Hayden and Connor used to travel together to Leeds (I think it was to train for the English schoolboy squad)

Alan is very good friends with my brother in law and has been since they were kids. The last time I saw him was at my brother in laws wedding last year. I've know Alan since he was "young un" round "the Nook"
We always "get the rugby ball" out when we meet up. I am looking forward to seeing his son play (even though he DOESN'T support Wigan.)

Along with the millions of others
Have a good weekend at the land of the bagpipes, there was a Scots lad, Gray his name if I remember correctly, played for Wigan, then emigrated to Oz as I recall, but then I've had a few schooners this PM.
Kind regards John B

John Gray.
Came from Rugby Union (Coventry?) as a goalkicking hooker. Played for Wigan for a season and a half and was picked for GB, then went to play for North Sydney.
He was a very versatile player as he could play in any of the pack positions, prop, hooker, second row and loose forward
He would have been an ideal forward in todays game.
Sorry for the history lesson, enjoy your beers.

In relaton to history lessons all this is irrelevant without dates, (1066 and all that, and was it 1979?) plus no details of whom he supported as a laddie

On the first and last points, you are spot on, however, someone who wore a skirt and played with his sporron all day would hardly be classed as "sensible", albeit we all have our differences, so to speak, not that I'm implying anything.
Have a good weekend, (don't be playing with any sporrons, stick with the bagpipes)

| I saw the Orrell team play against Bold in the U'15's lancs cup final at Widnes.
The fullback (sounded like a polish surname IIRC) and the stand off (reminded me of Lee Briers) were both very impressive that day I thought.
An excellent all round team.
Edit - Beecham was the stand off, Lewczenko the full back.
