| I'll go for 'no' as well but Gateshull Thunder Sharks (Are they still known as that?) are going to push Saints a LOT closer than people think.
I've heard people on here suggest we are going to win by 50, yet in the team threads they are suggesting resting all of our key players and going with kids from the academy.
Gateshead are of comparible quality to Widnes and we wouldn't be throwing the kids out against them away in the cup would we?

According to the Saints website, it looks like we'll be resting Gilmour coz his knee is shot, Meli won't be back because his hip is shot and Ade is out for a few weeks anyway due to his shoulder being, er, shot. Other than that from what Potter says it's a full team (ha!). Bryn looks to be returning for this game. Potter says he might give Lomax another go presumably with Wheeler and Eastmond in there too.
We're shot, though, if anyone else gets injured!
Gateshead don't look to be a walkover and with their new recruits a bit more bedded in thanks to the Widnes game, I am definitely not going up there thinking we have a bye. They have nothing to lose. We need to be on our guard just in case they have some real surprises. It would be a tad embarrassing to be giant killed!

The record books show that you were beaten by Gateshead Thunder who played by the rules laid down by Super League who were trying to expand rugby league beyond the M62 corridor.
We do not expect to win on Saturday, far from it, we recognise the vast difference between SL and the Championship and also recognise that Saints are a fantastic side with a wonderful heritage wheras Gateshead are a side that have been around for 10 years. I have followed Gateshead home and away since SL days watching a sport I love and am proud that my home town has a team that I can watch. Posts like yours belittle the work that has gone on in the NE in the last 10 years in rugby league ( I am also involved with Gateshead Storm that play at RLCN level) and do no credit to Saints who have displayed great dignity since the draw was made.
All I can say is that win lose or draw I will be at the next Thunder game (Toulouse at home) because it is a sport I love and I will not be put off by narrow minded individuals who cannot see beyond their little boxes.
Hope to see plenty of Saints fans up for the game and hope you have a great day.

Well said!
I'm coming. I've never been to the Thunderdome. Couldn't resist the chance to see your guys in action and see whether we can actually beat you on your turf for once!

Saints will hammer Gateshead. It is a bye for all intents and purposes.

You don't have a clue do you? Gateshead aren't a bad side.
While it's a game we should win, it's also a game that will probably be used to rest a few players with knocks. This will mean that a hammering is unlikely.
A few NL clubs came close in the last round to beating SL sides. Gateshead are as good as any of these on their day and have just signed a few NRL ringers in. Are they allowed to play?

Average SL sides, not the mighty S men. I'm not being arrogant and i dont think it will be a huge score, but they arn't Halifax who are blazing a trail through the championship, they are mid table.

The days of NRL ringers being any good died on the ar$e the day Salford signed Paul Carige and Sainst signed Damien Smith.
English mentalities always make me laugh. This match is akin to the Australian cricket team taking on Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. I dont think you would hear any member of [iThe Fanatics[/i seriously entertain anything other than a big win.
With or without some of our bigger names, we should beat Gateshead at a canter - indeed, as was displayed in the friendly at Widnes when several younger players stared when they were dispatched of mercilessly.
