It wouldn't be the same without the Saints fans around me saying, they'll not comeback from 8-0 down, then they'll not comeback from 14-0 down, then Whamo, Saints comeback and win.

I hold my hands up to the fact I said that,at half time I thought we would lose but I am glad I was wrong!

We didn't look like winning at half time to be fair. First half, we were poor, then start of the second half wasn't the best either. Then all of a sudden, we got on a role and they started to make a few mistakes, no looking back then.

Never write the Saints off.

We didn't, when we did score though I all of a sudden became a lot more confident that we could do it.

Still a lot needs working on but a win is a win

To be fair in the first half I think we were a bit rusty and took the wrong option or miss timed passes.
You could however see that there were gaps in wires defence.
Saints defence was however as solid as ever, bar a slight loss of concentration for Highams try.

Hence at 8 nil i wasnt overly concerned. The only time i got worried was when it went to 14 nil after Wire had literally battered us in the forwards and ensured we couldnt make more than 20 yards in a set of 6. I thought at that point we looked shot. However as soon as Graham and Cunningham came on, then wires fortunes visibly wilted.

Looking back, i think wires big defensive effort that lead to their second try was like the last desperate haymaker from a boxer out on his feet, because from then on, Wire visibly tired, where as Saints went up a gear, and ran riot.

I thought in the first half, there pack completely dominated ours, and that was the main reason for us struggling. They made easy yards constantly to get them up field, and we weren't. As soon as we got a bit of a role on, and got our go forward going then there was no looking back. I didn't think our defensive line was moving up quick enough, which gave the Wire pack the chance to make easy metres, but there was a definite improvement after 50 minutes.

Another thing, first half Warrington wasn't making many mistakes, and we were. Then all of a sudden, they make one or two mistakes and Saints took there chance and got back in to the game.

We won, but after that first half, definatly things that need some work on.

Good to see Wires coach, Jimmy Lowed exploiting Saints make shift left side pairing of Gilmour and Armstrong



Heres an idea, lets focus our attacks down Saints strong right hand side

Gilmour looked dangerous in attack down that left side tonight.

I thought we did okay to be only 14-0 down given the ball and field position they had. They have a strong pack and a good kicking game and controlled it well for a large portion of the game. It seemed though that they went both physically and mentally once we scored. From there it was all too easy.

I was impressed with Tony P, he looks a quality signing if we can keep him fit and not let him turn into a lard-d impact player. Armstrong on the wing looks good too, certainly capable enough at fielding kicks and has a bit of size about him.

I thought Wello, Wilkin and Flannery had good games too. Gidley once again the master, but the King was the catalyst again tonight in my opinion. When he was off we looked lost, when he returned we gained momentum. Still the most influential player in Super League.

I thought once we got a sniff of the line... then Dire's demons would buckle them. Gilly's try was soft. He took it well but should've never got down their right defense like that... Then you saw Saints lift & Dire were gone!

Maybe because Meli wasn't playing he thought it wasn't worth it.

Did you watch the game tonight? Once The Leon King injected himself into the game there was only one winner.

Bryn Hargreaves isn't good enough. Let's hope Frodsham can pick up his slack as the 5th prop.

Pryce had an excellent second half. He was quiet in the first half though as were a lot of the Saints players.

It was good to see Wellens slowly getting his confidence back as the game progressed too. He looked very dodgy in the first half.

Not really a vintage performance from Saints, had we been on top of our game, we wouldn't have pulled level until the 79th minute, and Armstrong would have scored the final try in the 80th minute after a true Wide to West flourish. Taking the lead with so long to go really does show a lack of confidence, but am sure that will come as the season progresses....

Wire played very well first 40 mins, locked us up defensively and it was an even game despite the score line.

It was a down the middle game.

We didnt come out in the second half and they scored from a great piece of play.

Fitness and heart wise they went at 60 mins.

Some nice link and support play once we got going and I thought we played a little wider than under DA on both sides with our backline looking balanced.

As for last night, as i said watching saints is bad for your health!

Rubbish 1st half, good 2nd half. A bit like Saints really.
