I did think of that avenue, but all Kyle needs to do is whatever Royce or the club says and he's fine.
A player can't be sacked /de-registered for playing poorly.
Something else that I have thought of is when does the RU season start? I think (but don''t know) its in the autumn when our season just finishes. So I am guessing that Kyles mind will be elsewhere come the business end of our season, just when Saints would need him most.

| Quote ="(Saint)"As others have said, Saints wanted rid of Eastmond with immediate effect so we could replace him but could not come to terms on compensation with Bath.
If Saints wanted to let Eastmond go before the end of the season they would have to pay out his contract.
I hope to God we start to see more committed displays from him now this is resolved and, failing that, I hope Royce has the conviction to make him play for the reserves because any more displays like Friday night and there will be riots at Widnes!'"
I don't know who your source is, but that indicates to me that the club have been the cause of the delayed announcement rather than Eastmond.
I just hope we don't boo him if he plays, we need to be supporting every player in the Red V if they are putting the effort in. And it will effect the rest of the team, moreso than a player deciding to take a contract elsewhere, which happens every year.

That depends upon perspective. If Eastmond wanted to go now then that would cause a delay because compensation would need to be negotiated. If Bath didn't want to offer terms then it could be said that Bath held things up.

Apparently he played loose forward for Bradford against Wigan so that's one step closer to scrum half for him isn't it?

Seriously? Cheeky .
His greed is only hindering his development as a Yawnion player. He's going to miss their pre-season by hanging around at Saints.

Indeed, but who has said Eastmond wants to go? Numerous things about the club wanting rid, but nothing from him.

| We were strongly linked with him during the off season so it would not surprise me. I think we are out of quota space this season so probably next, if at all.

This Chris Ashton bit is just a smokescreen, Rogues is still distraught at Ricky Bibby choosing to go to Leigh instead of playing for Sheilas Wheels

What makes you think this? He has displayed only a basic level of ability so far. The odd nice touch, the odd nice kick. But he's also proven he's incredibly nervous and cannot handle a big game environment. He also looks very suspect under pressure, as he dropped everything in the second half against Wire.
People on here big up so many young players to a ridiculous level and few of them make it past 'solid squad member for a few years' status. The likes of Wheeler, Lomax and Gaskell are in this bracket and previous generations have included the Jonkers, Bennett's and Clough's of this world. Solid players but not the world class international players they were talked up to be.
Wouldn't it be better to have an established player on a two or three year deal and have him learn as first line support to the first team at 6 and 7 rather than being thrown in to drown?
I know it's now fashionable to call him, but Kyle Eastmond is the most talented back I've ever seen the club produce in 25 years. Eastmond to Gaskell is an enormous step towards mediocrity it seems?

| =#FF4000Right, please keep all talk about Kyle and his impending move to Bath RU to this one thread. I appreciate the topic needs discussing and that there are various sub-plots involved but I've deleted 3 unnecessary new threads and merged 4 more into the original Super Kyle Eastmond thread in the past 7 days.
Once the news becomes officially official, i.e. an article appears on the Saints website, I will allow a new thread but if any more pop up in the meantime they will be deleted and perhaps lead to the OP getting some time off.

| Well according to 5live and BBC webiste, he has signed 3 year deal at Bath but will stay until the end of this season at Saints.
A couple of points:
Firstly, I was not one of the fans booing Eastmond last Friday and I never woulr boo one of our own while they were playing for the club in the first team. When a player crosses the white line, they need our support. End of.
Now this news seems to have broken, we need to think about the future of Saints. The future of Saints is not Eastmond as he is leaving, therefore if I were Royce, I would be thinking seriously about next season already. This season is going to be tough. Playing matches in a temporary home that does not feel right, a predictable style of play that will take some time to coach out of us and not much chance of winning anything. Get a young lad in the team now to give him game time and experience in readiness for next season. Dare I say it, do a 'Ferguson' and put Eastmond in the reserves for the rest of the season. And all the fans get behind the team, week in week out, and support the boys on the field.
Then we go into our new stadium with optimism and we can look forwards. I am not an Eastmond-hater, I think he is a terrific player but I, like many others, am massively disappointed with him for the way he has handled all this.
Let's use this season to blood the young 'uns and look forward to next season.
COME ON YOU SAINTS!!!

| Let's look at this in another way. Kyle EA$tmond has only played 44 games and 16 as a sub yet were talking like like he's modern great! He's done nothing in the game that rewards at massive £200,000 a season. He's got great potential but until he proves his worth then potential is all he is.
He's not exactly set the world on fire in his 44 games and 16 as sub. Looking at this thread and me included it's totally over the top for a player that is potential! I'm first to admit he looked to have great future in the game but again he's proved nothing yet.
In the past we've had proven superstars turn down big money moves because of their love of the club, fans and Want to repay the club back that's looked after them.
At the end of the day he's no Sean long, KC, scully, wello, jammer or roby, he's a unproven kid with a big head.
Bye bye Kyle, I'm sure we will see you back in super league in two years time with a bottom of the table club but ey that bank balance will pull you thru

| From what it sounds like to me, I think we could perhaps cut Kyle a little slack over the delay in the announcement, as it may well have been simply due to the club looking for avenues to get him off the wage bill immediately.
However, there's no doubting that Kyle's level of performance, and particularly his on field attitude last Friday, have been way short of an acceptable standard. But given that he is coming back from injury, and given that he has had the uncertainty of this whole saga hanging over him so far this season, I'm happy to see how he gets on in the next couple of matches before calling for him to be dropped. It's all very well using Ferguson as an example, but if he drops a £15m player he can just replace him with another £15m player.
It's still very early in the season - let's see how he gets on now that this has been cleared up, as the best situation for all concerned will be if the player rediscovers his form and enthusiasm and plays an important role in the first team for the rest of the season.
