| Despite us not losing today it seems Kyle has turned into a scapegoat already. Everything was his fault today somehow or other.
I mentioned in the player ratings it wasn't his day, it clearly wasn't. The things he tried didn't really come off and he seemed a little off. But before we tee off on him and have him strung up I think we need to recognise it's the first game of the season and he's spent most if not all the off season recovering from injury rather than actually running through drills with the boys. So there is bound to be a bedding in period again.
His decision as to whether to leave the sport or not is obviously an enormous one and probably one that will define how his life and certainly his career pans out. That for a bloke of what 18/19/20/21??? is a big thing. Lets not forget he is a Saints player and deserves our support until he leaves the club. Jammer is another in a similar position and he won't take the stick Kyle seems to be set for. If someone had offered me a salary twice as large at that age I would have had my head turned, everyone needs a little perspective here I feel.
Another factor is that he might read these boards. If there is still a decision to be made it won't be too good if he's reading the stuff on here. He certainly isn't taking the mickey from what I've seen, working hard to get back from injury earlier than expected and putting in 80 minutes today.

| I thought Kyle today played like a robot. He payed the game plan and didn't do his own thing when the chance came. He went the the motions instead of doing his own thing.
We missed Leon big time today. The only difference IMO today is we lacked cutting edge in attack that Pryce brings.
Off topic here but I thought Gardner was pretty good today.

| Saddened! I agree with you totally. Had those little chip kicks come off, for instance, people would have been saying wow a lot and drooling. They didn't come off because he's rusty. He needs a few weeks to get back into things. I think they all need a few weeks to click in a competitive environment.

| it seemed quite clear to me that Eastmond had very little intention of putting himself around ! And if that is the amount of effort he intends to put in from now on i would stick a 50% off label on his shirt and get shut A.S.A.P.

Exactly-how many times did he run at their line in the game? Two or three?
Most of the game he just shoveelled the ball along the line in a pedestrian fashion

| most of it is possibly a confidence issue, every time he ran the ball in for months last year he got injured, it is bound to have an effect on his mindset and confidence. Give him a few weeks, and back to full fitness, and he will be fine.

was more content with just passing the ball than making any runs.
makes me smile all this fuss over eastmond tried a couple of chips late in the game and people are praising him...i only hope he makes me eat my words...but somehow i dont think he will.

| I think he needs to get back to running with the ball. His passing game is like a training session and very predictable, he needs to vary his game.
His kicking was rubbish as well.
IMO if he goes it won't be any great loss to saints.

What a ridiculous post.
That was his first full 80 since August and he didn't have his regular halfback partner with him.
Some of the posts on here are just stupid.

Maybe he shouldn't have played then.
He can't play the ball player role. It's predictable and looks like training routine going thru a game plan.
Good scrumhalfs need to do what they see during the game and not just go thru the game plan.

and just what has he ever done before he ever got his injuries then?
all i ever seen him do was score a good try against wigan?
people are entitled to their opinion the same as you are...so just because you don't like em i wouldn't put them down as stupid.

| Not sure if my post about Kyle came across wrong. I DO think he's a good player and could maybe be a great player but he looks like he's going thru the motions and sticking 100% to game plan.
I do understand that sticking to tactics and game plans are very important but sometimes if a gap opens or a pass is on then he needs to do it.
He looked like a robot out there.

If he goes he goes. I'm not to fussed. It's all getting boring now, the sooner he says what he's doing the better.

| Reading between the lines it would appear he's off. Says he'll make a decision this week though, which is good news for us. If he's off we can spend a whole season tapping players up to replace him rather than having a couple of months with no one available.
If he stays, great.

It would be a little weird if he says he's off to be honest. Players and clubs leave it until the back end of the year to announce if a player is leaving.
I got told saints gave him the final offer on Tuesday.
Just seems strange that us and Kyle would say he's leaving only being a week in.
If he was going I'd have thought he'd have told saints and we'd sit on it while looking for his replacement.

| I didn't expect much more than what he produced to be honest, it could be a while before he's back to his best after such a long lay-off.
How people can question his effort is beyond me, he was clearly trying to make things happen.
He'll make a fine fullback in Union

Kyle's problem was that he didn't take the line on at all. I very much doubt that was in the gameplan (unless it was doctor's orders).

Now be honest ... would you be saying this if it weren't for the RU thing?
Kyle was rubbish last night, no question. But he was without his halfback partner, it was the first game of the season and it was his first game after a long spell of injury problems. He was clearly struggling with confidence when it came to taking the line on for this latter reason. If he stays fit and plays a few games he'll be fine, I'm sure.

| That's what I mean dux, he seemed to just go thru the motions of a game plan and not taking the line on when a gap opened.
He looked very very predictable and didn't put any doubt in the minds of the Wigan players.
I can't see him being allowed to play if the Docs orders was don't take the line on!
Maybe it was a mental thing, everytime he ran with it last year he got injured.

But surely taking the line on would be part of the game plan. Either way, it looked like a confidence issue to me. Not good enough last night, but nothing to worry about unduly.

| Kyle Eastmond is injury prone. He and everyone is aware of this fact. He does not want a big injury before he signs his £4,000 a week deal with Bath does he. He is a very selfish player, illustrated perfectly last season in one of the play off games when he played for a hour on one leg and would not be subbed. Saints should cut there losses now while he is fit because he will move eventually anyway. Half of his problem is Martin Offiah filling his head with delusions of grandeur for his own gain.
Get rid now
Come on you Saints stuff them pie eating b******s
