Thats the problem with fans, most are thick. They dont look at the facts and just randomly lash out at certain players. They hated Henry Faafilli and yet he's one of their most prolific try scorers (outside Gleeson strangely) and a site better than what they have now.
Saints fans are the same, they bizzarly think that certain players are worse just because they have left despite having no factual basis.

FWIW, Gleesons try per game ratio is about the same at both clubs and his assist rate per game better at Wire. Its marginal for both, but he has performed no worse at Wire and arguably better.

He's gone from being a small cog in a big machine to a major cog in a small machine, of course his stats are up, he was their only strike player for a few seasons.

I also can't believe you're actually defending Fa'afili. He conceded 2 tries to every one he scored.

Warrington only ever did one thing under Cullen, and that was Lee Briers would get the ball and then every single time he would look for Gleeson. Maybe this is why his stats are up, were as at Saints we had plenty of players that could break the line, and didn't have to go to Gleeson every time, the work was more shared than it is at Warrington.

That is likely, he has done alot more work and he was for along time their only attacking option. On the other hand, teams should have gone looking for him and taking out the game, if they did this, and he still improved, he did very well.

Its hard to take a player out of the game, unless you go and deliberately hurt them. You can't really put several players on them, as this then leave your team open in other areas. I suppose you could move up faster and put more pressure on him, but even then i don't think it would effect someone like Gleeson too much as he has very fast footwork anyway. Teams would have pin pointed him as there Warringtons biggest threat, but i fail to see how they could have took him out the game.

Anyway, any good player should be able to handle extra pressure as any team will want to take the oppositions best players out of the game, but its very hard to do that, IMO.

Maybe not as much, but it has dropped from his time with us. That may be due to a number of factors, lack of discipline, worse team mates, etc. but he isn't the player he was.

I think you will find that the onus is on you to show me that HF costed his team twice as many trys as he scored. Until you can do that, it is bobbins.

You only have to look at his performances for GB to see that his level of consistency isn't that same as what it was when he was at Saints.

He's played more than 3 matches for GB since his arrival at Warrington.

but you play a 3 matches in a completely different side to what you are used to then thats it for another year. I'd judge his consistency on what he does week in week out and he has done well for Warrington.
His season in 05 was outstanding, possibly his best. From 05 - 07 his winger outside him scored over 20 a season in each of those seasons.

Personally id like to send Goulding on loan but most Wigan fans seem to have given up on him already. Mathers Phelps Smith could go perminently for me but i dont think my view will be shared by BN. Some GOOD coaching and i think he could have a good future in the game being messed around at Wigan regarding a few things hasnt done him any good.

Gleeson didn't play today, I don't think so that could mean a deal is close to being concluded.

Gleeson is a very good player, and on paper will be an excellent signing for Wigan.

However if he comes with negative baggage, which his sale now from both Saints and Warrington suggests is true; then the cost to team morale at Wigan in the long term might be greater.

If Goulding is exchanged for Gleeson, then it will be interesting to see how Gouldings game progresses at wire. He has a lot of potential, but it doesnt appear to have developed much at Wigan. Perhaps Tony Smith can bring the best out of him.

The way i see this deal is Wire offloading a (possible) trouble maker, and taking a bit of a gamble on a good youngster, and a player whose confidence at Wigan is shot.
