As a neutral it was disappointing to see RLs showpiece event turn on an extremely dubious and in my opinion bad call.

Forget the 'They all even themselves out' statements we here. With 1 point in it and 10 mins to go, any team could have won, become Champions and gained all the financial reward that brings.

The game was taken out of the hands of the 26 on the field. You lot must be gutted and that was not a good end to the season.

I am a fan of RL and as a fan I sympathise with Saints tonight. I'm not buying into who were the best team overall and who deserved it most. The game was decided on one mans opinion tonight.

Does it really matter whether the final try was dubious?

Even if it'd been disallowed, Leeds would still have won 12-10.

I think the fault lies with the helicopter pilot about the off side.If he had been flying over old trafford we may have had a picture from above but he was tossing it off elsewhere

Would they though? There were 10 minutes left and it would have been nice to have seen it. It was 11-10 at the time wasn't it? All Saints would have needed was a penalty.

It's ifs and buts.

You could equally argue that Leeds would have held out.

Why? It's not a knock on if Eastmond is touching it. It has to leave his grasp for it to become a knock on. What happened was he made contact with it to take it and maintained that contact until it was in his grasp.

Such a shame that a good game of RL had to be decided by the VR who was clearly WRONG !!!!

TBF the Bentham VR decision is justice for Stains 2000 GF Thievery against Wigan, when dont forget Stains did exactly as leeds did on the back of a dubious decision with 1 point in the game and wigan in the ascendancy.

To be honest even taking that decision out of it I couldnt see you winning it anyway

Firstly, he wasn't CLEARLY wrong, the decision was marginal. Secondly, you had plenty of time and possession after the try, you failed to score. Add to that the fact that you were behind at the point the try was scored and your suggestion that a good game of RL was 'decided' by the VR just doesn't add up. You've had three chances and you've failed. Sad, but true.

I was very happy to get in at 8-8 at half time, with what felt like fk all territory.

Don't mean this as a dig, and its obviously something you know, but you are losing legends year after year, Longy gone now, one more year of KC, possibly losing Eastmond too - obviously some salary cap cash is being freed up each year, but to replace the likes of Scully, Long and Kieron who have not only been immense players but part of the fabric of your club is a tough tough ask.

Ironic that Saints were on the receiving end of a dubious off-side call considering they were off-side at the ptb for most of the match. Witness how Leeds struggled to make ground time after time with most of Saints defenders a yard in front of Ganson.

No it's not. If he had knocked it onto him, i.e it physically became detached from Eastmond and hit Donald, it's a knock on. It didn't, he remained in contact with the ball throughout.

Saints should have been tryless, Leeds should have been 1 try less.

Besides, it's not the first time a match, or a final for that matter, has been turned on a dubious call.

It just makes a change for it to go against St Helens for once.



Eastmond doesn't have control of the ball. He touches it forward, it touches Donald, that's a knock-on and a scrum to Leeds. Or at least, should have been.
