| Crap rumour. Why would Saints take a punt on a player who has looked solid, but unspectacular outside SL? Especially given that they have other young props in waiting such as Emmitt, Frodsham and others.

I agree with this, for us to want him he would need to be the stand out player in that league at the very least.

Absolutely. It's a no brainer and a bad rumour.

| We don't need another Hargreaves, we need another Paul Anderson/Jason Cayless, so unless this lad has genuine top class potential and real physical presence I can't see the point really.

Indeed.
I think with Sean Long leaving and no doubt one or two others leaving, we'll have plenty of space of the cap to re-jig our squad and improve in some weak areas with some real quality whilst continuing to give the youngsters a chance.

This is now fact! We were "cashed up" before we offloaded Longy, we must be Squillionaires by now!

I wouldn't hold out for too many signings. Indeed, Soliola might well be our only buy.

If that is the case again I'll be asking for a reduction in the season ticket price. None of the youngsters have played enough to warrant new deals so there is no justification for not spending big this off season. Longy won't be the only senior player to leave the club and anyway will surely be the highest paid player we have.

| I'd definatley use the money from Longy's wage to bulk up the front row, to make sure young Eastmond (or Smith, if Conroy's reading) has the best platform available.
Lynch would be the pick of the off contract SL players, but I reckon there'll be a few clubs chasing him which'll inflate his price.

I completely agree we are desperate for a big prop to replace JC and a British one would be preferential. Lynch is the best availiable, but as you say alot of teams will be in for him. As for Oz players, i think O'Meley could do a job for us.

I don't see why alot of people think he isn't good enough, equal to Jamie Peacock last season
www.superleague.co.uk/statistics ... eason=2009
and who would say Peacock isn't good enough?

Well we're all entitled to our own. I'd ideally like to see one of our youngsters come through and have a massive impact like Graham has, but i think we may be a couple of years off that for now.

It'd be great to have a Frodsham or an Emmitt coming through, but you need to be able to give young props a bit of a back seat when they are first coming into the side (much like Graham had in his first season or two).
What we need at the moment is a prop who can step in to the pack and take a leading role instantly. O'Meley or possibly Lynch (I'm not quite 100% about him) could do this, but, as you imply, we can't expect a youngster to be doing it until they've had a couple of seasons in the 1st team.

As a player i'd rather have O'Meley over Lynch, however the quota spots are 6 for next year and 5 for 2011.
Hopefully next year we will have:-
Soliola
Tony P
Lego
Meli
Gidley (hopefully and replaced by Lyon in 2011)
This doesn't leave any room for O'Meley in 2011 unless one of Lego or Meli is released.

Sign Mark O Meley. Release Meli at the end of next season.

Armstrong on the wing? Could possibly do a job and wouldn't command massive wages. Also has another season and a half to develop. With Soliola inside him to help defend its not out of the question.
