Think we'll be seeing Gaskell at #6 next week.

I think it all depends on roby injury if roby out for couple of weeks then the best way I think to go is 1 lomax 6 Gaskell 7 Wilkin 9 hohaia 13 wellens if he only misses next week game I can see someone like turner playing 6

Dom Speakman anyone? I wouldn't be suprised if he gave him half a game.

Brown doesn't seem to mind giving kids a chance, so I wouldn't be surprised either.

I'd consider Hhaia starting at 9 and Gaskell at 6. Put Speakman on the bench and if things aren't working with Gaskell, Hohaia could always switch to 6in and emergency.

Nothing is a better indicator of just how far Gaskell's stock has fallen than even the fans now starting to get worried at him playing at #6 and considering Hohaia as a better option there than he is....

Brown wont make wholesale changes just because of the loss of Roby as an important player he is we have a settled side at the moment. Got to be Gaskell at 6 and Hohaia at 9.

Sorry, I'm not worried. I'd have had him in more often now, but brown obviously has concerns, so I was speaking from his point of view.

I'd do the above and spell Speakman with Hohaia, but I do have a feeling Brown will go Hohaia 9, Turner 6 and Percival in at centre.

Gaskell played at centre for Rochdale at the weekend, scored two tries and assisted in one that didn't quite come off (as the receiver knocked on over the line), and was described as outstanding in reports in the rugby league paper.

Outstanding ? He was average. Scored a breakaway try for one and put the ball down over the line for the other. Lee is really dissapointing me at the minute. If he wants a career at Saints he aint going about it the right way.

If Gaskell doesn't play against Salford, then I think that's it for him. Especially if Turner plays there ahead of him.

Gaskell played well yesterday and if it wasn't for him Rochdale would of been nilled He stood out from the the rest which you would of expected at that level greenwood play ok he took the well and tackle well the one who disappoint me was Nathan Ashe this lad looked poor come off the bench to play hooker and you wouldn't of guessed he was on the pitch

Personally I doubt we will see Gaskell in the first team again. I think it's been a question of 'that's it for him' since Rush was appointed as coach.

He was certainly unfairly treated last season but it was a clean slate for everybody this season, as shown by Brown's willingness to give pretty much every squad member a game so far, and Gaskell was poor in the first 3 games. Our form has picked up without him and it's up to Lee to force his way back in.

That's not the full story though.

It was against Warrington that our pack finally stepped up and actually started to work hard. Had Gaskell had the advantage of a pack working hard in front of him he may have had more space to work in.

Also, he had to work with Lomax, who has now been put at fullback. Had he had the advantage of an experienced player like Wilkin by his side then maybe that too would have helped him. But he didn't.

It's not up to Gaskell at the end of the day. He could be playing his socks off in every Rochdale match he played in. If the powers that be don't want him in the team, he won't get in the team.

I agree with sime on here and I have said it for weeks Gaskell doesn't play this weekend he won't play again for the club

You cant blame the pack when Lee as a bad game. The fact is every time he as been given a oppotunity at first team level over the last year and half he as failed to deliver. Wont take the line on, average kicking game and just does not see the runners running into gaps.

It is - he could have played well in the first team over the last 12 months or so.

Don't get caught up in the powers that be guff - Brown had him as first choice in the first three SL games and he was poor. Added to his at times dismal form last year, he got dropped.

He can only hide behind the poor pack argument for so long - eventually he has to actually show something or his place in the team is rightly at risk.

Gaskell was poor the three games he play this season and its his fault he ain't playing but when Gaskell got dropped last season he was one of the best player in 4 of the 6 games

You have a seriously selective memory, you really do. One eyed is definitely a good name for yourself!

He has hardly had any game time at all over the last year and a half when compared to Lomax, who not only played in every game last season and this but has had the benefit of working alongside an experienced player in the halves. Gaskell has not had that advantage at ANY time during his first grade experience and as a halfback that is vitally important.
