| Just read an article from Ross Hepinstall comparing the two teams and who he thinks makes the 17.
Interesting as personally I would not have chosen JJB or LMS.
Might have found a place for Bentley and Thompson if he played before going to Australia.
Thoughts anyone?
Three-peat Dream Team: Lachlan Coote; Tommy Makinson, Kevin Naiqama, Keith Senior, Ryan Hall; Rob Burrow, Danny McGuire; Alex Walmsley, James Roby, Jamie Peacock; Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Ali Lauiti’iti, Kevin Sinfield
Interchange: Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Kylie Leuluai, Morgan Knowles, Jack Welsby
Coach: Kristian Woolf

| I'd pick Webb over Coote.
Gareth Ellis would also be in the 17 ahead of any of those back rowers

| Roby and Walmsley realistically only players who make the Leeds 17 none of the others close. The quality of players full stop as much poorer than 10-15 years ago

| Makinson is an interesting one, he wouldn't have made the Leeds team back then, but has become excellent since then. Although, it would be interesting to see how he'd go if the corner flag was still classed as being in touch.

James Graham should be an absolute certainty for that team.

Ooooof. Problem would be trying to drag one of Graham or JP off to bring Walmsley on.

Ahh of course. That version of Graham doesn't get in before the players mentioned ahead of him though IMO.

| OK - so playing at the top of their games and not necessarily how they played in these matches
Webb
Makinson
Percival
Senior
Hall
McGuire
Burrow
Walmsley
Roby
Peacock
Ellis
Ali
Sir Kev
Graham
Kylie
JJB
Welsby (for utility value)
You get a big clue as to how both teams won the treble when you see that Leeds had 14 players play in all three matches and Saints had 10.

| I wouldn't have any of the Saints team in at all. The competition for Saints over the last 3 year has been none existent.
The current Saints team is not a patch even on the Saints team from the 2010's onwards.
You can tell it's off season.

Yeah same for when Wigan dominated in 80s and 90s and when Bulls had their little tilt at the top. Its amazing that we dominated when the competition for the only time in its history was so strong.
Hope Saints know how easy they have it not having the mighty Crusaders and Widnes teams we had to master. Lol.
This Saints team are a top side and will continue to win finals for years to come. But their consistency means they will never win it from 5th.

| This Saints side are a machine and would do well in any era. But man for man, I don't think they're as strong as the the 07 to 09 Saints team.

| So hard to compare and contrast when more than a decade between the two teams. The sport has changed in that time, and like it or not, the current players are probably bigger, better athletes. In terms of pure achievement the one that gives Leeds the edge (in my opinion) in terms of achievement is the 2008 WCC win against the Storm, which is right up there with any of big wins between 2004 and 2015, and my personal favourite.

| Leeds fans are more bothered about how good we was in 2007 than we are now.
Saints have just battered us by 40 and 30 points in a month but it doesnt matter cos they arent as good as we was 14 years ago lol.
