| Just caught up on the disciplinary panel charges from last night, spotted the comments regarding Brett Ferres sin bin:
"Player disputes decision of Referee. Does not use abusive language or dispute decision in an aggressive manner. Sin Bin Sufficient."
What does everybody think to that? Disputing a decision *is* technically dissent, however I haven't seen any other yellows this season for the same thing which happens every week for nearly every team in the league.

| As a sport we need to get back to a situation where referees decisions are questioned in the appropriate manner by the captain and nobody else.
Without the referee there isn't a game - they should be treated with the respect they deserve - yes they make mistakes but perhaps if the players behaved in a professional manner then their job would be easier and the players themselves would find the volume of errors the referees make would reduce. Claiming an opponent has reefed the ball when they have lost it stone cold, complaining when a blatant forward pass is picked up, lying on, moving off the mark, not playing the ball correctly etc.

| yes i agree it should be the captains job and only him.
If the refs penalise this everytime it will soon get through to the numbskulls who keep doing it.

| I agree with all that Sal, the one that has got me recently which was mastered by Wigan was the play the ball when a player is trying to get up and they just throw the ball at the grounded player and then call for a penalty. Another player did it recently, I can't recall who.
In this situation, it's fine as long as it's going to be applied consistently across the board but that won't happen.
I do however think this was a disgraceful decision even more so now, knowing he didn't use abusive / aggressive language. Especially given the hit on Goulding early in the game that went unpunished bar a penalty.
Consistency is a huge issue for the match officials and the disciplinary panel.

| It's a 2 way street though. How can it be ok for Thaler to take the pesh out of Ferres' tan in one game, then sin-bin him in another for questioning a decision? Those couple of minutes summed our season up so far. Potentially 12-all at half time turned into 18-6 with a man down for 10. When the 'dissent' is not abusive then at best it's a penalty, no way a sin bin offence

| Could it have been a cumulative effect sin-binning? On the basis of what's been reported here it does sound a disproportionate response to a single incident, one you'd say occurs at some point in every match without a sin-binning.
Surprised with it being Thaler, who as said above does like to have a bit of banter with players usually.

Thaler did seem to be pinging us a lot so there's a possibility that he'd already had a few words with him throughout and the sin bin was because he didn't can it. From the disciplinary panel notes it seems harsh.

| Brett Ferres needs to concentrate on playing rugby, so should keep his trap shut.
He's been embarrassing 2 weeks on trot against Huddersfield.

| The reason Thaler will have gone for the card is because it's the only sanction he had available to him, other than having a quiet word with Ferres and his captain.
The try had been scored and the ball was dead, therefore he can't give a penalty for dissent or march the team back ten metres.
Given Mark Percival got away with just a penalty for using the F-word directly at a referee at the weekend though, the lack of consistency in terms of the severity of offences is crazy.
Seems to be a recurring theme with the disciplinary this season. Dave Taylor in particular seems to be getting away with illegal tackles left, right and centre. Two last weekend have resulted in just a one game ban because he's taken the EGP.
Some players unfortunately get away with murder while others seem to be easy targets for match officials not necessarily of their own making.

| Thaler was shocking he'd already warned Brough twice for chelping then again for having a dig at Lilley.
Conner got away with a warning despite taking Golding head high whilst he caught a bomb & again Wardle just warned for a tip tackle.
The officials & disciplinary a woefully inconsistent & the sooner the RFL get a proper grip on it then they'll go on being unfit for purpose.

| I can only assume it's from questioning the ref too many times if their was no foul or abusive language. When we beat Hull a few weeks back and Burrow got tackled high by Watts, Ablett was moaning to the ref and Hicks said to Burrow to shut Ablett's running commentary up or he'll be in trouble.
If it's not for repetitive chelping then it's an awful decision.

| Ferres was rightfuly sinbinned and the ref shouldnt have to put up with dissent, it was clearly bad and none of you know the full story.
On a related point, is it any wonder your club has lost its professional winning culture when you have lost role model professionals like Kevin Sinfield and hired in washed-up journeymen like Brett Ferres who do nothing except put local academy kids further down the development chain?
