Together with several family members, in preparation for a wedding the next day, I'll be staying in the Royal York hotel near the railway station in York on the night of the GF.

I'd appreciate any advice regarding the best place to watch the match - and any advice on places to avoid!

The Windmill Inn, which is a 2 minute walk to the right from The Royal York, has about 8 big screens throughout the pub used to show a lot of televised sport so that could be your best bet.

Avoid The York Arms, full of Tad's sort in there................

I'd agree with that (although haven't lived in York for 4 years). Avoid the Cross Keys near the Minster (if it still exists).

My mates mrs is head honcho at royal York. Could have got you a good deal. And As for my sort I'll see you tomorrow boy

Was a dead cert when I was at uni.

The Botham Tavern shows super league games. Not too far a walk from the station. Good atmosphere. Has a well kept bitter, and a mixture of RL supporters in.

I was in York last year when saints played Wigan in the play off semi. There was a football match on at a similar time and it was a nightmare to find somewhere showing the rugby, we had to beg a landlord to put the game on

The terrace is the main place for live sport.it will defo have it on will be a good atmosphere in there too .

Its the Bootham Tavern and yes it does usually show Super League. The Windmill has been closed recently so you might need to check if it has re-opened yet.

Somehow, I don't know why, it doesn't seem quite so important any more!
