Worrall (Think he is OOC, done well but with a full squad he's unlikely to get near the 17)

Ratu (Is he a long term replacement for Keith or maybe Watkins blocks his way)

Broughton (Not really had a chance at Leeds but had a few games for Hull in SL, is he back at Leeds now?)

Allan (Think he has been playing in the halves for the academy, could he develop in to a back up for the 1st team there?)

obviously it would be nice to keep everyone but if there's little chance of them playing then who knows?

I think if worrall was staying he'd of had a new contract by now.
Ratu i'm not sure when his contract runs out but would like him to stay.
Allan is on an extended deal as part of the "x factor" group along with watkins,bjb and mcshane.
I've no idea about broughton but when i've seen him play i think he's shown potential but whether that equates to a new deal at leeds i'm not sure.
Next year we'll have the likes of coady.amor,delaney and eastwood to come in plus imo pitts,ambler and manning will be pushing for places within the squad so where that leaves the other lads only time will tell.

I'd like to see Broughton kept somewhere around the club. He could be just what Leeds need if/when Donald leaves at the end of next season.

I agree the stints on loan have done him the world of good imo.

not surprised. he has been a good servent for the club as and when we have needed him, but he never really was going to cement a second row place. Give the chance now to one of the young lads to get some experience

Worrall could probably do OK for some other SL teams but realistically he's not likely to get many opportunities next year at Leeds. He's not in our first choice 17 now and next year Eastwood will come in ahead of him in the pecking order. We'll have 12 forwards in our squad numbers 1-19 so two of those won't play at any one time. Even if more than two are injured, Worrall will be competing with the likes of Pitts, Manning, Amor and Ambler for bench spots. There doesn't seem much point in him staying, hard-working as he is.

It took both Jones' Buchanan and Ablett a lot longer to find their feet as decent 2nd rowers than many of our fans are giving Worrall.

Worrall to Union, Gibson to Salford, chosen them out of a host of 5 SL clubs, and Ryan Bailey staying, despite all the rumours around him going to Castleford.

That's an odd decision to make if that's true.



The two former players had shown ability in the lower grades at Leeds.

Worrall has shown nothing much since his switch from Union other than a willingness to learn and plenty of effort. Those are the minimum requirements though and ultimately you need a bit more than that to make it towards the top end of SL.

Worrall is the living proof that you can in 2009.

In part that is down to there being a thin squad among the forwards this season generally and recent injuries to Bailey, Kirke and Ablett.

He's nearly 25 though.

I am not saying that I think he will be as good as JJB or Ablett. Nor am I saying it would be wrong to release him.

However, I was very wide of the mark in my early appraisal of JJB 2001/2002 and also Ablett 2004 to 2006.

I won't make silly rash statements like the one TVOC has made above.

Worrall has done a decent job whenever picked at 1st team level. Works hard, runs good lines and is a decent forward who played many games in our championship year last year (and hopefully this).

If TVOC genuinely thinks that can be achieved simply through willingness to learn and hard work then he thinks very little of the standards at our great club during this its' greatest period in history.

They are only rash if they are proved wrong with the passage of time. Bookmark this thread to your hearts content, Worrall is not one that will come back to bite Leeds on the a[irs[/ie unlike previous mistakes like releasing Gareth Raynor in favour of Francis Cummins.



The above attributes is all I've seen from Worrall. It's a line of thought I've consistently held since the first few times I saw him play for Leeds. He has done nothing to change those initial views.

I've stated all season long that he and Gibson should not be retained beyond their current contracts if Leeds wish to improve. One way or the other it's the position I still expect the club to take.

Unlike you I had no such mis-givings re Jones-Buchanan or Ablett.

It is rash and silly to say that all you need to get a 1st team jersey with the double champs is a willingness to learn and hard work.

Whether Worrall is released or not doesn't alter that.

Still, even if that is the case Worrall will have played an important role in at least one and hopefully two championship seasons.

Easy to say now but I seem to have been somewhat of a lone voice lauding JJB when he was getting stick on here circa 2005/2006 and recently.

Same with Ablett. I can't recall many gushing posts from you about his importance to the team.

Wasn't he released in favour of Calderwood?
