| Came over from Warrington for the game last night, tbh thought we were going to get hammered so was a bit gutted that we lost, but heh that's life.
Always enjoy coming over to Leeds for the game, your fans are great, you can always have a laugh & joke no matter what the result is & its nice to wander around the cricket ground before the game.
By the way, why are there 2 big areas of the South Stand cordoned off?

Its knackered - failed a full capacity safety test last year and needs remedial work doing on it to be fully approved again, its over-rated as an enclosure anyway.

Have they not got plans to knock it down & rebuild it - seem to remember reading somewhere?

| What a refreshing change from the usual 'beer throwing, foul language, car damaging' stuff we get after a game.

Yes there are plans to do so.
In the current economic climate and with Carnegie closing the petty cash tin and throwing away the key I think its fair to say that the new south stand, and the new north stand fo that matter, is confined to the "wouldn't it be nice" filing cabinet for the foreseeable future.

I don't know.
If that is the case then we can assume that the work required was of a far more drastic nature than intimated at the end of last season - £250k doesn't go far but if they needed to spend that sort of money just to maintain a reduced capacity then it must have been pretty firked to start with - I'd guess that the reduced capacity will be with us (you) for some time to come ...

From what I can gather Caddick are currently building an extension to the Arla plant in Sturton then after then they don’t have any big contracts on the horizon so he might just fill that void with the SS redevelopment – either that or mass lay-offs??

I was told by someone at Headingley that the damage was done when they put in the new crash barriers a few years ago. Apparently they weren't put in in the right way (apparently the ones in the Carnegie Stand are correct) and so weakened the concrete of the steps.
How much/how long it would take to fix it though I've no idea!

im pretty sure at the time GH said that teh remdial work could only be done for a maximum of two seasons anyway, and after that the stand wouldnt be useable so i would expect that it something that is a very high priority,
also maybe the tykes being promoted could see a little more money coming our way for the imrovements needed

[iWork on repairing the concrete terracing will begin this week, but the plan of works agreed with the building control authorities covers the next two years only and Leeds Rugby are now drawing up proposals for a rebuilt South Stand, likely to include both seats and terracing.[/i
[iThe Yorkshire Evening Post reported earlier this month that the safety concerns were likely to lead to the stand being demolished and rebuilt.
Hetherington added: "This is a short-term measure, but our long-term plans are also starting now.[/i
