Wigan v Saints was some game.

Good game but i thought thaler made some very poor calls.

Could've called it as it happened. As Eddie said, the ref and touch judges did a wonderful job - working together. wowee

Overall I thought Thaler had a pretty decent game and worked hard to keep the dialogue going with the players.

Very skinny 10 though throughout and of course it wouldn't be Thaler without his usual br[iainfa[/irt moment. 'Play on, play on, play on, 4 play the ball.' WTF James Graham was supposed to do with that I'm not sure.

Bit of an unfair call if you ask me - Graham didn't have a chance but once he called the tackle count he couldn't go back.

Wigan had enough chances near the Saints try line to put them away last night and do us a favour at the same time. Deja Vu from last weeks Challenge Cup game.

And would have had a better chance of converting that pressure if Saints had been kept onside just once. What was that about 2 feet behind the line? Surely you mean 2' in front of the line?

Thing is he was actually correct in his call. When he shouts 'play on' there is nobody on Graham on the floor, then before he got up a Wigan player dropped onto his legs at which point he changed the call to '4, play the ball.' Unfortunately for Saints this was just as Graham got up to play on.

I think in situations like that the ref should just tell the player to go back to the mark and play the ball.

I loved that bit. Just a shame he didn't put the icing on the cake by penalising Graham further for dissent.

Wonder if he apologised to Graham afer the game.

That would have made more sense in that instance last night. I don't think it was a fair call on Graham (whether technically correct or not) after the way Thaler was most insistent in shouting 'play on' repeatedly.

What would have happened had Graham followed his first instinct and got up and played the ball? Voluntary tackle?

You bet your bottom dollar it would have been.

One other thing, I wish Mick Potter would learn to control his emotions, he's gonna give himself a heart attack if he's not careful.

Watched Quins go down to Catalans...pretty ordinary game TBH. Quins had quitea few out and looked well short on class. I think they had a couple of ex Leeds Academy lads playing..

Luke Gale, Ben Kaye?

Ben Kaye short of class? His standards must have slipped, he was good enough for the Leeds first team last season.

Ben Kaye isn't good enough for the Leeds Rhinos first team hence why Leeds let him go as they thought Paul McShane was the better prospect of the two...

I wasn't particularly pointing at Ben Kaye as having a 'lack of class' more the whole team as a unit. I hope Kaye makes it - the only real playmaker in the current Quins outfit is Chad Randall and he can't do a full 80.

I think Brian McD is doing a pretty good job with very ordinary material although with a full side on the park Quins look a mid table side rather than a bottom 4 one (which is what they looked last night). They had 6 missing and it showed.

Also Will Sharpe gave away the comedy try of the season - well worth a look on Boots n'All if it gets shown.

What was a player, who isn't/wasn't (I presume) good enough doing playing five times for the Leeds first team last season?

His not being good enough wasn't reflected in the teams results as Leeds won all five games he played in.

I don't doubt that Leeds saw him as surplus to requirements this season with the signing of Buderus and the emergence of McShane but that's no reason to say he isn't/wasn't good enough.



Will Sharpe is an Offiah protegy. It just shows what a bit of mentoring from past players can achieve. Watch out Aussies.
