| Rumoured to be going to St Helens.
Could he have done a job for us as a rotating hooker/backup half back rather than splashing the cash on an import?
I like Brough as a player but he comes across as someone who would upset the harmony of the dressing room.

Not sure why Saints would go for him to be honest. Maybe Longs last year but then we have Eastmond and Wheeler as well as Lomax coming through. He does offer a deep kicking game which is something that would benefit us though.

As I say just a rumour. Do you think the young lads are ready or do they need a couple more years?
I think brough would be an ideal replacement for Sean Long myself but I dont know how good the kids are. Then there's the 'current situation' thats ongoing. The one we arent allowed to discuss.

| Barrie McDermott mentioned this on Boots 'N' All Online this week only not in so many words but his inference was unmissable.
It's had a shout out on here as well along with his 'Salford need to sniff the camel's back' comment.
I hope it happens although it doesn't say much for St Helens half back production line if it does.

Impressed with Wheeler from what I've seen and hes quite a big lad as well for a youngster, looks capable of handling it. To be honest if Pryce continues as a Saints player (which I think he will regardless) I see him taking the main role in the halves and a young 7 being used as an effective pivot, basically just a link between the forwards and Pryce. Then once they're more confident gradually taking a bigger role in the side.
Eastmond looks vulnerable although is a gem in the making IMO, unbelievably quick and confident. He has the biggest potential, possibly moved to FB in future.
I don't know what Saints will look to do with Lomax, Eastmond, Wheeler and Pryce. If they all come through the only options I see are Pryce going to LF or FB or selling off one or two of the talented kids.
In terms of Brough, I like him as a player and I think he'd be a lot more effective at a top side. However, I just don't see a role for him at Saints.

Pryce has never struck me as that type of player.

I'm inclined to agree.
His past indicates that he is eager to have a major role within the side he plays for though and he did take this role to a degree at Wakey last week. Its much easier with Cunningham at 9 for him though. We could be in a situation where Pryce is trying to control the game with Scott Moore at 9 in future.
Big questions for the structure of Saints' play in the future. All this goes to show is how important Sean Long is to us, he has his critics but hes huge to Saints, even when he doesn't do anything flash, he makes sure we win games.

| On topic, to be honest I think Brough is a bit over-rated. I think he's been a medium-sized fish in quite a small pond at Wakey and I think he'd look very ordinary at Saints or Leeds. We certainly don't have anyone around the first team at the moment that I'd swap him for. Good kicking game mind you, but I'd want a bit more. As a replacement for Sean Long I'd be disappointed with him if (God forbid) I were a Saints fan.

| Saints have Matty Smith out on loan at Celtic, He's one of their half backs. Steven Tyrer is there aswell and with Matty Smith being injured it seems he is going to be playing the halves tonight. Them 2 plus Lomax and Wheeler. Now Brough; how many more half backs do they want......
Brough would fit in at Saints in my opion because just like Pryce and Long, he's abit of a D!CK! I heard amongst the "Briers is leaving" rumours Warrington were in with a shout on him?

It was here amongst the [url=http://viewtopic.php?t=402396&start=45Gleeson[/urlthread with a link added to watch it online. The 'camel' comment was after the Hull KR V Salford game though and that was the last game featured.
I've no idea where the saying comes from. Perhaps it's big in Oldham?

Tyrer is a centre.
Our halfbacks are Long, Pryce, Wheeler, Smith and Eastmond that I know of. Matty Smith looks unlikely to be allowed back into the club, despite looking promising when he deputised for Long last season. Eastmond is being groomed to replace Wellens at fullback I reckon, although he's made of biscuit so its unlikely we'll ever see his potential realised.
Long could well be retiring this season, I'm not aware he's made any plans public. Wheeler looks a good prospect but there is a year or two before he'll need an expensive senior contract, so there is obviously room for another halfback to be signed.
We could see the following leave:
Long
Cunningham
Cayless
Gilmour
Gidley
and the following join:
Danny Brough
Scott Moore
A.N Other NRL random
A.N Other from academy or NRL
Sir Jamie Lyon

You'd think Saints would be having plenty of cash around in the coming years.
Long replaced by a youngster.
Cunningham replaced by a youngster.
Cayless probably replaced by a youngster.
Gilmour maybe somebody brought in.
Gidley - Jamie Lyon.
Realistically Long and KC will take up a lot of the salary at Saints so should some there to pay off the tax bill when it comes in.

| Brough is quility but only in parts of the season IMO
he's failed to be consistant for a whole year and only once or twice has been a stand out player against decent oposition!

| Brough often looks good, but I'm starting to get the feeling he can be a bit of a lightweight at times when games are tight and hard. probably playing for a club that has lower expectations (no offence) it doesn't get held against him because of all the good he can do, but I wonder if he'd be found lacking for a top club.
I liken him to Briers in this sense.

| in answer to the opening post, I don't think he would come to Leeds as a backup to 7&9, and he wasn't available 12 months ago when we signed Buderus.
He does seem a player that is very up and down. he was key to the Hull team in 2005, but was out of Hull quite soon afterwards.
Looks like a t!t too

He's been at a few clubs in a relatively short space of time, which often tells you enough about the person, rather than the player.
Decent enough player, but I don't see the point in splashing the cash on him, as I don't think he offers cover in positions we're even remotely weak

McClennan obviosuly felt differently.
EmmaMur01 would love Danny Brough to play for Leeds.
