Finishing 2nd looks slightly better to me, with no trip to France'" Quote ="nantwichexile"Hmmm..if that's correct I agree! With this scenario I see a loss coming aganst Cats especially with the short turnaround for the semi.... it doesn't seem so imperative to finish top now.'"
I want the Rhinos to win this game without a doubt even if we are selective with our squad selection as we will potentially stay 1 point in front of the Saints and 2 points in front of Wigan going into the 8's,this will be beneficial in securing a top 2 finish and having a home semi final
We can beat the Dragons at home so lets take the 2 league points will come in usefull during the 8's play offs

| Points carry over into the eights. Of course it's advantageous to win games rather than lose them so we're in the best position to be in the top two at the end of the season for a home semi.
To say "I'd think we should lose this game, because if we won we might later have a harder fixture...that we might lose" when the same points are available for both is pretty dumb, even for a forum.

| Well I'd much prefer to start the Super 8's with a points advantage, and have home fixtures against Wigan & Saints. Not too bothered about travelling to Catalan. We can't stop winning there!

| Important to have as many points on the board as possible.
If Warrington get Chase, as rumoured, they will be a massively different animal to what they have been, and I would really like them to be in a position of having to make up big points in order to have a chance of getting in the top four. So Hopefully Cas will beat them next week.

Hull's cup final was last week, no chance they were ever going to get up again for this week having secured their place in the 8 and with no realistic expectation of top four.

| I'd be tempted to go with 1-13 as the starting 13, just for old times sake.
But really I'd go with:
1. Hardaker
2. Briscoe
3. Watkins
4. Moon
5. Hall
6. Sinfield
7. McGuire
8. Leuluai
9. Aiton
10. Peacock
11. Ablett
12. Keinhorst
13. Delaney
14. Burrow
15. Singleton
16. Garbutt
17. JJB

Yes I think we can afford to rest ONE guy for this game and Cuthbertson is a good shout. HKR's defeat on Friday ruled out the very slim chance that Catalans could end up fighting to avoid the Middle 8's today so wouldn't be surprised if they turn up not bothered.

They could still get 6th. A win would definitely give them7th. But a defeat, and in the 8's or not, they are not going to make top 4. But a win and they are every bit as close.
Today is very important for their season. They have everything to play for, and probably why they have brought back Carney.

| Congratulations to Brian Mac and the players for finishing top in the regular season and giving us a great chance of another Grand Final appearance. What a fitting end it would be for the outstanding Sinfield and JP to lift the Championship trophy once more.

Yes agreed. We don't win anything for being top right now but it's definitely pleasing and well done that we are.
Looking at the table and with a 7 point gap over Cas and a 9 point gap over Warrington then already we're not far away from having enough points for a Top 4 spot (2 more wins would probably be enough) although obviously we'd like to keep pushing for top 2 and a home playoff.

| there are 7 super 8 games, so 14 points up for grabs and we are 7 points clear of Cas in 5th so we are all but guaranteed a semi final spot. These next games are about ensuring that the semi game is played at home hopefully against 4th but I'd back us home or away against any of the top 8 at the moment. Wire do seem to be a bit of a bogey team this season and I can see them sneaking into 4th eve with a 4 point deficit but we should be at hq. think it will be a leeds saints gf

Huddersfield play Warrington at home, that could be the one to decide who gets the final fourth spot. Top 3 should remain Leeds, Saints and Wigan. We play both at home, win both and we should be top 2. Wigan have the disadvantage in the race for a top 2 spot as they also go away to Saints as well as their visit to Headingley.

| does anyone know what skys criteria for picking the remaining games will be. Are they showing one super 8s match and one middle 8s or just whatever they fee like? I'm guessing catalans three home games will all be televised on a saturday afternooon. are they going to pick the games as the two comps develop or announce all 7 rounds this week? they could end up televising a dead rubber instead of a crucial battle for 4th

Well, Warrington blew them away on their home turf yesterday so they will have to regroup very quickly to stand a chance. Realistically it will be between Warrington and Hudds. for the 4th spot.

| I notice not many comments on yesterdays game. I can see quit a few who normally post obviously wasn't there, as they were posting on here.
But please, surely I am not the only one with a negative on one particular player yesterday? defensively that was like watching a child play rugby.

| I could not attend the game (various reasons) my main info is from today's guardian . Quite a good match report , Catalan claimed they were in the game for sixty minutes? How did jjb play, also briscoe. His three scores good finishing or individual efforts.
Mc Guire not used probably saving him for the saints match.

Nope you're not alone. Keinhorst defended very poorly yesterday, as did Burrow. The two of the side by side struggled badly.
