4. Jason Demetriou

What a team that is, and thanks for proving the point that "Buderus has never been overshadowed by any 9 in this comp"

I've not watched that final since suffering it live but I'm struggling to remember much from Buderus but a knock on.

Correct.
Buderus is no Matt Diskin or Scott Moore.

| Quote ="BrisbaneRhino"Ettingshausen was the 'best' full back I've seen for Leeds. Eric Grothe was the 'best' winger. Hanley was the 'best' loose forward. I could name an arguable 'best of' Leeds side from the past 30 years who were fun to watch as they failed miserably to win anything meaningful.
There are a bunch of players in this squad who may not be playing well now, and may not ever again, but who have helped win the major trophy 3 (and in some cases 4) times. Those players may be dismissed today, but if for example the '100 Greatest Players' book from a few years ago is updated in 20 years, Diskin would be in and not Buderus. Ryan Hall would be in ahead of Eric Grothe. And the list goes on.
One day they'll be having reunions of the 2007-09 players on the pitch. Maybe its only when they're all old men that some people will recognise their contribution to the club.'"
You omitted an honourable '100 Greatest Players' mention for 3 times Grand Final and SL ring winner Ian Kirke.

I struggled to remember much apart from...
1) Bailey being owned by Turnstile Mathers... that's right, Bailey owned by Turnstile Mathers in a one-on-one tackle when it was easier to just negotiate a turnstile by the usual method and score a simple try.
2) McGuire calling for a stretcher.
3) The Leeds fans emptying their seats by the 65th minute.

Fair point - IMO this was the most disappointing game of Buderus' Leeds career. An opportunity for him to shine on a big stage and prove his class but he blew it. I've been largely happy with the Buderus signing but this was a major chalk mark against it IMO. It was the sort of game you'd expect a former Australia and NSW captain to show his quality, especially as he was on form in the previous round. He wasn't the only player not to 'turn up' though.
It would be great if he could make up for it this year and go out on a high (assuming he is not retained).

There were two Leeds players responsible for lame attempts at a tackle on Atkins which led to that try. Will your tiresome [i'agenda'[/i allow you to name that other Leeds player apart from Kirke?

| Monaghan hasn't made it yet.
I'm missing the selections from '96 (bar Cunningham), '97 and '98 but I'm pretty sure Monaghan wasn't around in SL back then.

Michael Monaghan didn't win the Lance Todd Trophy in 2010.
Lee Briers did.

No trolling involved at all.
I've merely pointed out the absurdity of selective references to SL dream teams, Harry Sunderland's and the number SL rings as evidence of a player being better than another.
That's when you decided to shift the goalposts to your opinion.
If you're comfortable always lining up alongside a G1 agenda, then I guess that's your choice

Only one of us shifted the goal posts and avoided answering questions
Where did I mention SL rings or Harry Sunderland's? the dream team placement is for a season long effort and Buderus has not managed to convince the panel of judges (not me or you) that he has been the best hooker in the competition in either of the seasons he has been with Leeds and I doubt he will get it this year.
My initial response was to Sal Paradise's claim that "Buderus has never been overshadowed by any 9 in this comp", I will ask again but I'm sure you still wont answer, do you think Buderus played better than Monaghan in the CC final last year?
What has this got to do with G1?

Nothing. You've seen through his bluster and his tired old routine and he doesn't like it. He's wriggling on your hook and lashing out wildly in any direction.
It quite sad to see really.

| My point is this - on any given day a player can have an off day - it happens, even Clark Sinfield has his moments - his performance at Wembley was hardly anything to write home about!! The less said about his performance in the Huddersfield semi of 2006 the better!!
Yes he may be able to walk across the River Aire unaided but even he has off days.
In the SL comp Buderus consistently performs to a very high level - especially defensively - comparable to any other nine in the comp.
His achievements in the game particularly at the highest most intense level - the NRL, SOO and internationally - stand comparison with any player in the modern game. Anyone who thinks Diskin's achievements in a second rate competition - where only 3/4 teams have a chance of winning it - come close is wearing blinkers.
Yes Leeds may have won more GF's with Diskin in the side but that doesn't make him a better player.
