The thing is the ball stays alive and goes across field and back again that the ref has no chance of spotting that. But you're right, by what the 'law enforcers' have been saying he should have been unable to play any part in that play until the next tackle..
[size=75... not that it helped us tho...[/size'"
You're wrong. It was different to the Bradford incident.

If you are offside at the ptb then you are offside. There is no getting back onside once the ball is in play

Boots 'N' All had the relevant law up on screen last night.
Section 11, Law 10
There was no mention in there of a player having to wait until the next play the ball before being able to get back onside.
As Sinfield clearly got himself back behind the point of the play the ball why wouldn't he be onside for the remainder of the play?

| And for Leeds fans lamenting refereeing decisions going against them they're suspiciously quiet on Burrow's pass to Jones-Buchanan at Odsal and Jones-Buchanan's flick on to Keith Senior at Headingley over the weekend.

Robbie Paul said it in the first SL Show on Sunday. I haven't seen anyone corroborate what he was coming out with though and last night's BNA was an excellent opportunity to do that when discussing the actual law you'd have thought.

Precisely! The calling in of the video ref at nearly every occasion is making a mockery of the game. Let's face it you can find excuses to disallow almost every try if you looked hard enough.

You come out with some real narrow minded comments.
Do you think that maybe, just maybe the fact that Huddersfield have been proactive in reducing prices aimed at bringing in families is paying dividends?
And then we all wonder why RL fails to expand......................

I think you will find the Worrincy try was also from a forward pass as the Sky commentary said at the time

| Quote ="Dirty Pretty Thing"My issue with the Webb "try" is that while technically correct, this is the first time I've seen it given. As mentioned on Boots & All last night, Hanley and Edwards must have scored dozens of tries between them doing the same thing.
Also, if Webb was judged offside shouldn't teams be penalised every time teams put in a long kick?'"
There is no issue he was offside.
When teams put in a long kick in any player in front is offside, when the oposition player catches the ball he must be given 10 metres by the players in front of the kick, if the person who kicked the ball runs in front of the players who was offside he puts them all onside, this is seen and heard (By the ref shouting give him 10) all the time.
Offside at the play the ball is completetly different to a kick. Had Webb not got involved in the play the try would have stood, a player cannot stand offside then get involved in play without making an effort to get onside. for webb to touch the ball he would have needed to run back at least inline with the PTB.
Imagine rugby league without this rule, whilst in attack you could have 3 or 4 players standing in the defensive line waiting for the break then follwing up for an instant 2 on 1 against the fullback. Saints and Leeds are the best two teams at supporting players after a break we flood through and score. By not enforcing this rule slow and lazy teams would have the advantage and the need for speed would be reduced.
I can remember especially Edwards doing this not so much Hanley. When Edwards did it though he often stood around the PTB or just the side of it, he would then step back onside as the ball was played. Webb was almost in the bulls defensive line.
