The game vs Cas will tell us a lot IMO in terms of whether there's any truth to McDermott having 'lost the dressing room'. I don't think we've much chance of winning regardless of attitude or any team changes, but if we put up a strong showing it speaks volumes as to where the squad is at - as does another abject collapse. '"
There was a superb interview with JJB yesterday on Radio Leeds. As well as coming across extremely eloquently he was very supportive of BM, but was asked at least twice if other players felt the same. He very skillfully avoided answering it each time.

I get the sense that a lot of the newer players dont have the same bond so it will be interesting to see how they react. For ecanple ive seen Parcell on numerous occasions look totally p@ssed of with being taken off the field
I also think this means JJB retires and Ablett moves on next year.
Even though i think McDermott should have gone at the end of the year rather tban now, it has made the back of the end season wuite interesting thats for sure

| Was this the right time - not for me - if you are wanting to avoid the middle 8s then stability is the key.
The team simply wasn't evolving under McDermott - the style of play has been turgid to say the least.
At the end of the day rugby is a form of entertainment - nothing more - and as such fans need to feel like they are getting value for money every week - for all McDermott's qualities delivering consistent attractive rugby is not one of them.
This is OK if you are winning but its not if you are not and Brian's regular season results have been average at best.
Leeds are currently unable to fill a 11k stadium - I'm sure GH is considering the up coming ST offering and how they are going to sell the tickets on the back of such shoddy performances.

| Is it right that Hetherington made the offer to BM to go by mutual agreement at the end of the year but didn’t want to leave so had no choice?

| Do any of you think his defiant after match interviews contributed to his demise? I.E. "I know which squad i'd rather be coaching" and "I don't see a beaten squad here, just a team that's losing games"

| Not the interviews, but if he said similar to Hetherington than yes. If you ask for an explanation of poor performances from a coach and its not for public consumption, if he says the squad's good he's literally asking for responsibility to be placed at his feet.

| Whoever the appointment is, I will be dissapointed if Eaton and Davidson are still around with the new set up. That is not a new direction.

Davidson has far exceeded his term, more so than McDermott did. Done some great stuff, especially in the earlier years, but fresh ideas are needed in any team after so long in his sort of role. He used to be the best around, bar none, now he is not even close.

| I think we may see a response, how long it will be during the game is another matter.
Its one thing to go down all guns blazing and another to meekly offer some token resistance for 10 mins when the games gone.

Can't decide. From a Cas perspective I would like to to think Powell could out-coach Lowes irrespective of the teams. Alternatively there is usually a brief positive reaction to a sacking & Leeds might play with a flare & passion they have been lacking for a good while,

| I'd be surprised if we don't see some sort of reaction from the players. After all whilst the coach rightly takes some blame for poor performances, so should they, and based on performances this year a few ought to be on notice regarding their futures at the club.

| Reading Danny Mags' interview in the Yorkshire Post was interesting saying he wasn't surprised by the sacking & that it's very much a "Player lead" Club.

Whether it's a good call remains to be seen. The appointment certainly calls into question Sal's idea that there's some kind of feud between GH and KS.

I was always under the impression that he had no interest in coaching. While his job title may be DOR if he is selecting the team etc he must have some involvement in how they are going to play.
It's great he is back involved but would still like someone with experience in coaching, Lowes would
not have been my choice.
