Maybe they should then they might realise that both Half's are crap. All forwards are too small and too old and we can't defend for more than ten mins.

Well said.
He gets this season for me to turn the ship around and then next is where i expect us to be back at the top table. People need to accept the glory days are gone and its a big job to get us back on track.giving coaches 8-10 games and sacking them is not the answer.

I think all those things would be a revelation to them, you should email GH just in case they don’t get to read such wisdom.

| Here we go again! The usual suspects that went after BM since his first days are at it again. The simplistic logic to always blame the coach when things are not working continues. You would have thought they would have learnt something from our ex coach who produced a record breaking number of Cups despite the constant carping from his critics.
The main problem has been the failure of GH to invest in the team over many seasons. Ironically Mac's ability to produce results with an ageing squad well past their peak may have led GH into delaying serious recruitment. But when Sinfield, JP and Kylie retired we should have gone for some quality replacements especially as Mags and Burrow were soon to follow. These players were good enough to make other average players look better than they really were and with the likes of JJB, Delaney and Albett slowing up too we have been exposed in defence as well as attack.
It was wrong to blame BM for everything and naive to think changing the coach would solve the lack of quality recruitment. Under Sinfield last year the performances deteriorated even further despite some 2nd rate mid season recruitment..
Furner as brought in and finally money splashed out but it is too soon to say if these are the right signings. We are where we are and going after Furner fails to understand the difficulties of coaching players that are just not up to it.
He has not got the power up front in the pack and has not been able to use JJB, Ablet, Crosby and Golding due to injuries and has lost Ward his best defender. His three big signings arrived overweight and have not yet made consistent impact. Watkins has not looked match fit and we have had a very tough set of fixtures most of them away.
The coach will be assessing the players performances and will now know the weaknesses. But he must be given time and money to get his own balance in the squad.
The one on one tackling shown by all the players is just not good enough and we still need an organiser at half back and 2 big props.

| There will be a full review during this season/at season end where changes will be made if needed I'm sure. I do look at Castleford's set-up with some envy; they of all clubs bring half backs through the best IMO, and develop a very high skill level across the team. Is it Orr and Sheridan behind the scenes there?
The more I think about it, the more I think we haven't had our academy set up quite right for a number of years. It takes maybe 5 years for your seeds to develop and we've probably been paying the price for mistakes made there from some time ago - albeit we may just have gone through a lean patch with quality players generally, they don't come reliably off the production line but often in waves.
I suspect we got an early march with the academy and were clearly the best for a while, but then other clubs outspent us/caught up a bit with facilities and as we were winning titles, we probably didn't keep our eye on it enough. Then when you see the problem in the first team (c.2016?), you're suddenly 5 years off fixing it again because you got complacent. We look about 2 years into that 5 to me.
That is my pet theory anyway - of course there are myriad factors, including some Lady Luck.

Good post. We look in for a real long, hard road to recovery here. With Sinfield looking like he's taken some decision making from GH we need to give it all time, although in Crosby, Donaldson, Tui, Hurrell, Merrin the jury is still out. And I really didn't agree at all with our attempt to sign SOL at this stage in his career. Then again recently linked with Wellington Albert...
Sam Walters is a real coup though, pleased there.
Losing Ward again is definitely a blow, he stiffens our middle up considerably and is tough. Watkins has been way off form so far, and is not someone you can easily drop - not that we have anywhere other than first team he could really play. JJB and Ablett look physically shot, although they are both up for it mentally still.
I am starting to agree with those talking about another half. Lolohea looks like a not-as-good-as-Tony-Kemp figure at the moment. Myler is a solid club player, but not a consistent top-4 club player IMO.
All in all we have to recruit and develop players who can defend, roughly half our side looks regularly suspect in D and it's no wonder we're shipping tries. Must be infuriating for those that do put the work in only to see the usual suspects conceding line breaks every chuffing game.

Maybe but there were lots of reports at the time that Leeds' interest was genuine. He probably never seriously indicated he wanted to leave mind.

We know when he signed he was told Lowes was staying on that came from Sinfield.
I genuinely think Sinfield & GH before him have got the squad/staff balance all wrong these last 2years.
The cull will need to be much bigger for 2020 irrespective of a couple of Marquee arrivals. For me Jjb Ablett Cuthbertson L.Briscoe L.Suttcliffe Parcell Myler Singleton Ferres & Donaldson can ALL go.
Note for J Cornetto - Golding has been available for the last 3 weeks he's not in the Clubs plans get the message.

My understanding is that Golding's first game back after injury was last week at Fev and where he played in yet another position of left centre. As for not being in the club's plans I am not privy to Furners thoughts on this but I do know Golding had two good pre season games and Furner chose to give him a special mention for his last performance.
My own guess is that Furner will now be looking for players with heart and defensive commitment and Golding fits the bill. In addition he offers a great attitude in the Leeds tradition and can play in fullback, hooker and wing. Given the awful performances from most of those players that you would say are currently in the clubs plans then I believe it would be very foolish indeed to ignore just the sort of player Furner needs out on the field just now.
Furner will have relied on Sinfield's judgement on the squad so far and until he has had the chance to form his own opinions. Sinfield, great player that he was has, so far has shown flaky judgement in his own team selections and recruitment evidenced by his support of Sutcliffe

| I agree re-Sinfields judgement but you only highlight
Sutcliffe (who id release tmw) yet he was behind giving his mates Jjb & Ablett new deals both blatantly past it but you see as some kind of improvement if fit.
Id also question the recruitment of L.Briscoe & Donaldson.
This squad has major problems & Golding wont solve any of them as admirable as his attitude & versatility is.

| I'm not fussed about Golding, and at this stage concede that it is probably in everyone's interests for him to leave the club.
I agree he has the right attitude, and has been good for us defensively in the past (esp. 2017). Last season, however, his defence was not as good as some would make it out to be, and at times he seemed without much confidence.
There's maybe an argument for giving him a wing spot over Handley (or FB if Walker and Lolohea get injured), but this isn't going to fundamentally change much. Never mind hooker, it's a shame Golding's not an organising half-back, that's what we need (his pace and enthusiasm would be assets).
