Next season (actually probably this season and last too), we're in desperate need of a creative halfback - but I just can't see where we're going to get one from.

There's a whole host of halfs moving around in the NRL and off contract, but the majority of NRL clubs are in need of at least 1 starting half, and probably a back up too. And the money on offer for even just an average journeyman half is ridiculous - Josh Reynolds just snagged a deal worth $800k a year, and he's hardly top drawer - so I just can't see any Super League club being able to attract a decent half.....

And I don't see many talented half backs running around Super League that we could poach.... I trust in GH to come up with something, but he's going to have a job on....

Don't believe he is. There's only two clubs currently who have taken up the Marquee Rule... one is Wigan with Tomkins and the other is Saints I believe with Roby.

In other words you don't need to Einstein to realise that Leeds are well under the cap - you just need to be a bit brighter than you.

No he isn't a marquee player he may get additional monies from the RFL as an England player.

I Would imagine all clubs are under the cap by some amount, whether that is £100 or £500,000 i have no idea, my guess is that neither do you or probably any other poster on here.

No one on here knows what we're spending SC wise. At best some might know the salaries of a few players but then just completely guessing for another 20 odd guys and they could be miles off on valuations of some players.

TBF there are two / three that know all the financials and the coaching/ lack of coaching that the Rhinos are subject to. I'll send you an email should you require it.

Well since last year we have lost Hardaker, Achurch and Segeyaro. 1 a man of steel, one a top level NRL player, 1 brought in on a long term contract when in demand as a young NRL player,

We have brought in Parcell, Ormondroyd and Aston.

Last season we went in to the season with enough space to add both Ferres and Segeyaro,

The year before we had enough to add Garbutt to a squad which also included Sinfield, Peacock and Leuluai.

For us to not have at least a decent sum left you would need to think that we were spending more this year than 2015.

From those simple comparisons you would have to assume either we have some space or someone is being massively overpaid.

We also know that we could give for instance Watkins plus someone else a pay rise and create some cap space, we also know that we will have £75k more next year when the SC goes up.

Arguably Leeds' most expensive squad was that assembled for the eventually unsuccessful 2010 season. And IIRC even that one had enough space within it to add a returning Lee Smith mid-season.

IMO, to believe the current squad could be remotely close to the cap requires you also to believe the CEO to be suddenly excessively proflegate.

Well if Achurch was on a handsome wage then who knows. One thing we do know is that for the last several years we've been very good at keeping our squad together and not regularly losing guys to NRL or RU like Wigan for example so he must be doing something right to keep them, especially when most of them dislike the coach allegedly.

It could be our players are not in demand from other codes/competitions in the same way that Wigan's players are?
