Clearly the club will over the next 18 months is facing major pressures. The rebuilding of the two stands, the playing side of the business will have the added burden of the retirement of the likes of Burrow, Maguire, JJB and possibly Delaney, Galloway and Ablett. Any major successes over this period would be a welcome but unlikely surprise.
Leeds should now concentrate on the promising group of youngsters like Golding, Sutcliffe,Walker,Olideski and the other young players from the academy who the many posters on this forum tell us are outstanding. More importantly the club should seriously consider a complete change to a more open style of rugby.
To do this we need a change of the coaching system, Mr Mcdermott should move on and I would ask the club to consider Ben Walker and his brother who are promoting a new style in Australia.

Whilst the fans are happy to accept sub standard quality on the field GH will continue - why spend £300-500K more than you need?

No decent coach is going to come to a club that spends like Huddersfield and not like Warrington that is why GH will never appoint a really top coach.

He wont appoint a proven top coach because they would want to be in control of the teams recruitment / retention etc and Gary will never give up that power.

I think we play a very open style of rugby right now. A change in style is not necessary in my opinion.

As for a very top already proven coach, as mentioned GH will want to retain ultimate control over recruitment and I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt on that front.

Leeds always have room under the cap which suggests they are well under - GH has made no mention of being tight to the cap which also there is plenty of room, Leeds don't have a marquee player either that would suggest they have plenty of room under the cap.

There is one English coach who could match Mac's achievement n has two extra WCCs ....but he would never be prized away from his current position . His fee now probably too high or rather compensation to club he currently works with , which would not leave much for players...as said elsewhere just add some extra specialist coaching staff.

It's a good point you make. We need a transformational coach, someone who can rebuild and set a new direction.

Next season (actually probably this season and last too), we're in desperate need of a creative halfback - but I just can't see where we're going to get one from.

There's a whole host of halfs moving around in the NRL and off contract, but the majority of NRL clubs are in need of at least 1 starting half, and probably a back up too. And the money on offer for even just an average journeyman half is ridiculous - Josh Reynolds just snagged a deal worth $800k a year, and he's hardly top drawer - so I just can't see any Super League club being able to attract a decent half.....

And I don't see many talented half backs running around Super League that we could poach.... I trust in GH to come up with something, but he's going to have a job on....

Don't believe he is. There's only two clubs currently who have taken up the Marquee Rule... one is Wigan with Tomkins and the other is Saints I believe with Roby.

In other words you don't need to Einstein to realise that Leeds are well under the cap - you just need to be a bit brighter than you.

No he isn't a marquee player he may get additional monies from the RFL as an England player.

I Would imagine all clubs are under the cap by some amount, whether that is £100 or £500,000 i have no idea, my guess is that neither do you or probably any other poster on here.
