Over the season you should finish 1st as you are a stronger squad but we'll see about OT - perhaps Potter can find the mercurial GF touch Anderson couldn't? I would happily take 2nd and an OT win!'"

Was it not a decent try??'"
It was a try nothing more, nothing less. As I said at the time Webb could have scored it himself and there was no need to risk the pass to Gibson at all. Gibson caught it jogged the last five and put the ball down. Well done Ashley, I'm not sure anyone else at the club could have done that.
Quote ="rhinoms"His previous form was very good at 1st team level both in the centre's when senior was rested and when he moved to wing,of course if you don't remember that far back i'm sure there are other poster's who will concur tad been 1.'"
I'm not so insecure in my own opinions that I need to rely on anyone elses recollections. People are free to form their own opinions no matter how tenuously based on fact. It doesn't necessarily make them right though.
Those games where he replaced the rested Senior in 2007 was the one away at Hull KR where he scored his hat-trick. Yes very good, similar to your recollection of the times Ryan Hall played second row for Leeds from the bench in 2008. That was another one off event V Bradford blown up out of all proportion.
Gibson was an average centre with some potential who had displaced an distinctly average Toopi in 2007. He was never blessed with many physical attributes though and what little pace he had has deserted him now, probably for good.

Again your opinion i'm happy to give the kid more than 5 games after 2yrs of injury to prove his worth.
He actually played a few time's in 2006 aswell where again he showed plenty of promise, i get it you don't rate him i do.
P.s What's ryan hall doing well in the back row against the bulls got to do with me rating gibson and wanting him to be given a chance????

Pretty fair summary, it's unfortunate for Ashley, if his injuries hadn't held him back he might have been a SL standard centre, but send him off to a championship team or Salford/Celtic at the end of the season. I wouldn't mind him being on low salary being a back up three quarter/hooker, because at the moment the depth of our squad isn't as strong as it has been.

| Gibson - back up hooker?
I don't see it. Why back up the position with an average middle back when there is McShane coming through the system. Even in game conditions where McShane isn't an option at present, Gibson would be about seventh choice behind Buderus/Diskin/Webb/Burrow/Smith and Sinfield for me.

| In my enforced absence its good to see consistency still reigning on Southstander;
Danny is still that far up Gareth's backside they may as well be siamese twins!!
Tvoc still talks more sense than 90% of people on here.
Rhinoms is still the biggest believest ever to climb off the evolutionary ladder.
PS
My view is this, Leeds have gone backwards, taken the cheap option and are now light in key positions, Bluey still doesn't convince me and Sinfield is average at best.
But hey, it could be worse, we may have Gibson back from injury, oh hang on.................

It's to do with you inflating a one off event (ie Gibson replacing a rested Senior) into a whole new career option in the Leeds 1st grade just as you did with Hall earlier this season re his helping out in the second row from the bench over last easter.

I'm not really using him as back up hooker, as you say he's quite far down the pecking order. But if he's on a small wage, then having a back up centre/winger and I'm just saying he can cover hooker, didn't he play for the England federation thing?

No i didn't
I said hall did well when he played there!
As for gibson you do know he played in 06 don't you??
You do know he has played more than once in the centre/wing at 1st team level and you do know he's played for england and did well.
I've based my opinion on what i've seen when he's played well before his injury,he hasn't been brilliant since he's returned but he hasn't been the worse player in the team either.
I'm prepared to give the lad a chance what's the problem??

"Sinfield is average"

That old chestnut because greatness as a player if measured by how you are carried along by a squad punching way above the talent of its average skipper, do you think Leeds would be a better side with Wilkin at 13?
Are you a better judge the Brian Noble and Tony Smith who had more than slight reservations around Sinfields ability to take on the best?

No I don't, the way Leeds play Sinfield, McGuire and Burrow fit in well together, or at least have done until this season but to be fair they haven't many games. Wilkin's had one good game and suddenly he's god.

This post can be written off as pointless, do you think Bluey had any influence on the GF or do you think Tony Smith's blueprint for success was part of the Champions DNA.
Do you think Leeds have gone backwards since the GF as that DNA becomes a distant memory and players start to follow th Bluey way of no structure?

You're post replying to it is pointless!
McClennan's tactics was one of the main reasons we won the GF, kicking early and the kicking game overall was the main factor in our tactical victory.
