We can't judge Smith as a centre yet as we've only seen him play one game, yes at the moment Evans and Howell would be better options, but where would that leave Gibson, Smith and Watkins, three English players at the expense of a second rate Aussie and now more than ever that's not what the English game needs.

It would leave them just exactly where they are now. In the case of Smith still heavily rumoured to be leaving sometime this season. In the case of Gibson waiting to find a lesser SL club for 2010 and in the case of Watkins 18 months away from being ready for the centre role full time by which point Senior will be almost done if he stays on next year.

What has the English game got to do with it? Very laudable but forget about catching the Aussies it's never going to happen anyway.

Name me another British SL club that doesn't already have an Aussie or Kiwi centre at either 3 or 4?

You have a point, but we'd have 6 overseas players if we signed another one and that's too many IMO.

At the moment saints are clearly the better side, by a fair bit too

However we have been in with a shout right to the end in two games where we were poor in my opinion and saints where very good, in fact they where near perfect missing very few tackles and very few errors!

However I would say we have more improvement in us than they do and we will need to find it to beat them.

If we can get someone like soliola over as was rumoured or watkins can find his potential we will be a much bigger threat and I would also like to see another body in the forwards, even just a plodded who would allow us to rest jp

Hargreaves does this job for us. Not rated by anyone except a small section of the saints fans, who can see the role he has in the team. By no means is a fantastic prop who will set the world on fire, but he does a decent job on relatively small wages.

mentioned this a while back about getting in a 'grafter' type prop and was shouted down. 4 props isn't enough

I don't know where you're getting your info from but I'd change your supplier. Dixon at Castleford is squad number 2 and Evans is number 4 so that's another NO meaning that Leeds are unique amongst the SL competition.




When needs must. The Leeds board has a responsibility to their own success first and the future of English RL second and as it goes Leeds have nothing to be ashamed of in that regard.

If kirke is gonna be used at prop that leave's jjb,ali and ablett to rotate the second row plus diskin/buderus depending who's at 9 at the time.

i feel i was right in what i said but perhaps i should have calmed down first. i was angry last night, i felt let down to be honest. however the effort was there and as long as that is there the future will be ok

i really rated that lad 2 years ago, i felt he could be top class. however injuries have hit hard.shame for him,you can get away with it in the forwards but in the backs a lack of pace is not good
