| "I know a lot of you have been upset by a recent newspaper article suggesting we have had financial problems over the past few weeks. I want to make this statement as clear as I possibly can: Castleford Tigers has always stood on its own two feet. Even in the early months of 2013 when the vultures were hovering over us, our Chairman, Mr Jack Fulton stood up to be counted; he didn't ask for any help and pledged his support and love for our great club".
Isn't the same as standing on your own two feet is it?
By definition of the term would be that the business supports itself and doesnt need such showing of support from people such as Mr Fulton.
Its perhaps a point of pedantry but equally its also spin.
I'm sure i will now be laid waste by the forum rabble, but i think its a fair enough point of order.
That said the relative tranquility of the castleford tigers financial dealings is something us wakey fans can only dream to see soon.

I thought that seeing as you have Andrew Glover as your owner you'd be in very good shape as he still has adverts for his conservatories on the TV every so often. Is he not the same as Jack Fulton in the way that he supports your club financially ? I hope that you will not be laid to waste by "the forum rabble " as there is no reason to as you are asking a perfectly reasonable question. Hopefully WTW will also have relative tranquility ( lovely phrase by the way ) as your club, and fans, have been through a lot recently and with your new ground the last thing you'd need is more financial problems.

| all top level sports clubs need help from their investors, none of them run merely off their own profits - I'd say Jack having a steady flow of money into the club isn't anything to bat an eyeld about really.
I am reasonably happy that, as Steve Gill says, struggling is different to failing, and I'm happy that the club is doing the former rather than the latter and spending within it's means
(which isn't a dig by the way, Kinley... more than just WTW in this big ol' world spend above their means, alas the repercussions affect more than just the club itself)

according to steve gill today we haven't had any money from jack for 7 months so that to me suggests we have been standing on our own 2 feet for that period of time

Completely agree Dave and certainly not taken as a dig.
Like i pointed out it was a point of pedantry, an observation on the spin that someone can put on something to make it credible and creditable.
The OP was about a comment made in answer to the article in Lge Exp i think about Cas being lumped in with all us other roustabouts, which i think was ungenerous, but equally without Mr Fulton's support (as indicated my Mr Gill) that may be a different story.
Like i said reletive tranquility is better than chaos every couple of years so good on Cas, your boat is more seaworthy than ours.

AFAIK Andrew Gover is not the owner of the club, however clearly you are/were correct as he still has a directors debt owed by the club.
We seem to be heading through the worst of it, although i don't think (or allow myself to think) that all the bad stuff is over, maybe one day!!

| Think the last time jack lent us some cash was to fire Millward / pay fev compo for DP. The 2 decisions were the best 2 decisions the club have made in a long time.

I think to lump Cas into that category was a little harsh, but maybe in correct context it isn't far wrong. We are cash strapped, and certainly we have financial boundaries simlar to Wakefield and Bradford - the difference being, which hasn't been stated in the article, that we have always stayed within those constraits (as far as I'm aware)
We have people in place that are making the best of what we have, it's just unfortunate that sports clubs often attract people with champagne lifestyles, and we are very much a lemonade sport (at our level anyway)
