Confirmed this morning he has signed with Hull KR and a deal fell through with Tigers last Friday. He becomes HKR's 11th overseas player for 2012.



Millward is currently in Australia talking to agents/players.

Maybe HKR are tring to sign enough overseas players so they can have England v Exiles in training sessions!!!

I'm all for signing the young ones up from here and the NRL but I do still think we need some experience signings as well

It is disappointing but I think there are many more fringe 1st grade players over in Australia who we will Be looking at. No great loss regarding squad strength because we will find someone else but annoying all the same when we do the work in getting him out of contract with Knights.
I think we need to tighten up at the club regarding protocol on signing announcements also. I heard we had signed Mika on Monday 26th September – 18 days ago. I would rather us not let the info out until all the detail has been completed – we never seem to learn from past mistakes do we?

That's the difficulty though - plenty of fans have been asking for info about signings and the club probably thought they had the signing in the bag and weren't doing anything wrong by announcing that they hoped to confirm a signing from the NRL soon.

Players agents are generally the driving force in a deal and you can bet that even had Cas kept everything completely under wraps the agent would have alerted Hull KR to his players availability.

No great loss to my mind. There will be plenty of comparable players available when Millward goes looking. Its possible that we could be the one's doing the gazumping next time...

You could be right as there are 21 English players in the squad including 17 local born players

Announcing a squad with 96 English players is no good if only 5 or 6 of them play each week.

With a new coach who knows? Last season an average of 10 English players were first choice

Hull KR had 8 overseas players last season and they didn't all play in every match so take your pick who missed out

First choice? Matter of opinion I suppose.

But in our final regular season game of 2011 against...Castleford.......the Hull KR team featured 9 English born players.

In season 2012 HullKR will have 32 full time players 27 of whom are eligible to play for England.

One who isn't will be Con Mika.......but who knows if he stays with us for 2 years 9 months maybe he'll be in the England frame too just like someone else we know.

Look I'm not having a go at anyone here but don't you think that if you have an issue it is with the RFL ? If they are going to let players represent England after 2 years 9 months then they can hardly object to the same players being in Super League.

Basically Hull KR have a mix of Hull born players (17 of them in 2012) and overseas born players. We don't have many West Yorks or Lancs players but so what? There's plenty of clubs in those parts for those players to choose from.

I can promise you that the Hull KR youth system is starting to produce a whole load of fantastic young players. We started from scratch 5 years ago, loads of time effort and money has been pumped into it and it is now starting to bear fruit.

Prior to that we had no chance whatsoever. We had been in the lower leagues for over a decade so guess where the best local youngsters went to even Hull KR fans like Richard Horne & Paul Cooke?

No more though. Look we all admire the youth production system at Cas and it is something we aspire to. Rome wasn't built in a day but in the meantime we wanted to establish ourselves in Super League and we have done.
