| As someone who has been to every game (bar Hull away) this season, I was so dejected about the display last night. The drive home to Warrington was a very long one indeed!
Now, Ive been thinking about it a lot, and Im trying to pin point whats wrong. I do not think TM deserves a new contract, but that said I totally object to the idea of sacking TM before the end of his contract. A contract works both ways.
I see it like this;
1 We have far too many NL standard players. Poor recruitment has not helped this at all.
2 Brent Sherwin has been a very poor signing who has shown little promise and even less performance. He was awful last night. Id rather see us try loan someone like Greg McNally for the season. We wont though as he is on a big contract and simply has to play.
3 We do NOTHING off the ball. The only person in motion is the ball carrier. There is next to no push support
4 We have little in the way of structure and creativity. Either Sherwin or Chase sorts a play, rarely a combination of both.
5 Joe Westerman plays as a strike player so we do not have a 3rd pivot. I would consider Thompson to full back, Goldy to loose and Westy in the second row to hopefully create more options.
6 Out of our 4 props, on Mitchell Sargeant has any punch about him. We hurt noone and seem to hang on in the middle 3rd.
7 Our plan is desperately limited. It seems Chase steps, clean break or a kick from Sherwin to the right. We offer nothing else in the armoury. What happened to the double kiwi play that Westerman scored regularly from over two seasons? Its gone and so has everything else!
8 We seem very very flat. No back slapping, enthusiasm or excitement in the team. Lots of heads down. Feel sorry for Westy at times who tries to cranck up a bit of umph.
9 Far too many young players either dont sign for us or are allowed to leave. Watts, Boyle and Gleadhill being the most recent examples.
10 The trend of loan players is poor. Back our own! Ainscough is an exception as he is special, but I would rather develop what we have than play Tuson and Cooper. It also backs up the decisions to allow Watts, Boyle and Gleadhill to leave as a joke.
Im furious, but I will be there on monday. Its something I do with my dad so that wont stop, but major improvements to all aspects of the football department at the club are needed.
As for the rest of the club, thats as bad, but a different debate!!!! Dont get me started on the shop and the bars!!!

| =#8000FFI stopped after you said McGoldrick to loose forward that is beyond ridiculous, a loose forward needs to be able to tackle, McGoldrick doesn't even attempt to tackle most of the time.

| That is an offensively based suggestion. McGoldrick has played numerous seasons with us, NRL and Super 14s. He can tackle. I'm not a major fan of his, I feel he likes being a big fish in a small pond and his forms has nosedived.
Loose forward needs to do a hell of a lot more than tackle mate

| I agree with most of what you say but McGoldrick has been good at FB this season, so I wouldn't change that aspect of our team...

| I think he has too mate, but at the moment, we only have Chase trying to create anything. Sherwin is doing nothing. We need a 3rd pivot on the field and its the only way I can see us finding one.
Slightly OT, think Jordan Thompson has gone very well since his introduction. Sound on kicks and carries strongly. Seems to have ok pace too.

| All good points and the majority should be sorted by our current coaching staff. It seems we have the same mistakes week after week. Whilst some or if not most of the current team arent good enough we cant go out and get rid of them all. Unfortunately the coaching staff will take most of the blame. As much as Matterson might be a nice guy and it might not be all his fault we have some of our worst defeats under him, some shocking scorelines and some daft decisions. I think a change of coach could do us good, but realistically is it going to happen? We are skint and i doubt RW will sack him.. pay off his contract and then recruit anyone to come within. No other coach would probably take on the challenge the way it is. I think we could be stuck with Terry and the current BOD for a while to come yet. Depressing times ahead.

| well i am another whos voting with my feet enough is enough love the club but carnt watch another tm half time show i didnt get a season ticket this year (lucky me) (i always wait for the recruitment first not the richard wright money grabber early bird as they call it) but have only missed one game catalan,we were lucky really to hold on last week against celtic yet again we couldnt control the game and after half time just clung on to what was a very bottom of super league clash to me which is daja vu at wakefield last night good first half forget the rest.recruitment has being very poor what with the on and off saga with clayton who to me is a nl1 player and tony martin said it all.terry matterson carnt get the best out off his aussie pals so to me he has to go,snitch is half the player he was last year and now is a half back?,higgins has no speed and is on the widders diet, sherwin thinks hes captain and does what he wants taticly, clayton?wainwright? the list goes on feel sorry for shenton, westy.mcgoldrick who to me still have a go.we have talent flocking through the junior ranks what carnt get a place buy hey as they say "us aussies stick together" say no more
a really big change is needed at castleford and i know i am just another ranter but i am another ranter who wont be paying anymore money in to the club with matterson in charge i know its not only down to him but its a start in a shake up what is needed for players and once a proud well supported club

| Dreadful game last night. Two poor teams on show, we were just lucky that you were as bad as you were. Any top side would have ripped us both apart last night.

| If rumours are to be believed some of the players went around Xscape last friday night, you would think after that performance
and the fact they were playing again on monday they wouldn't be out, this is the problem with the players they act like an amateur side.
They are paid professionals they should be acting more like one,i have nothing against them having a beer now and again but we have a serious booze culture at the club, and is it any wonder when once at Pontefract races the whole squad was there and the one in worst condition was the coach.

| You hear this at every club when things go wrong. There is nothing wrong with it. In fact some australian sides consider it vital to being a team and struggle when a player doesnt join in. I once spoke to Chris Anderson who said the best thing to do when a team is struggling is get on it for a day. The NRL has much bigger booze issues than us and it doesnt prevent them producing quality RL.
I dont 100% agree, but that has no bearing on the performances. I live in Warrington and they are always out in Stockton Heath where I live, my mates in Widnes, St Helens, Wigan and back home all report the same about their players.
The game has a booze culture. Nothing like it was pre super league, but its there alright. But I for one prefer that to the footballers in a hotel culture in the round ball game!!

In australia the clubs let them out but not in the run up to games, and given the bad publicity over there in drink related incidents are starting to clamp down on it. Plus their training regimes, strength & conditioning and diet plans they have in aus it probably doesn't effect performances. Not sure it applies to our players though.

| So a post Wakey synopsis of what's going wrong?....Answer - Matterson he cannot get the best out of the players regardless of the ability.
Do Wakey have a better team than us? Do Wakey have a better team than us? In which case Matterson should have recruited better. Perhaps we have a better team than them!!! In which cse Matterson can't get the players motivated to play for him and has had more than a fair chance to do exactly that.
Our performance, on Friday was rubbish. So is it a case of can't play? or won't play? Either way it spells out time for a change and the names Matterson and Sherwin come to mind!!
