I think this as a great idea, hope the trial goes well.

The least it would do is sharpen up refing, they're not going to want to look fools.

I don't think overturning a decision would make a ref's decision look foolish. It happens in cricket and sometimes even the reversal is wrong.
Yesterday one of the South Africans was given out caught behind of his glove. The appeal gave him out, however it should not have done as his hand was not on the bat at the time.
Whilst I accept this is a radical suggestion, but why not just accept the ref's decision.
It was Dickie Bird who said, "eventually the only thing they will need an umpire for is to hold the bowlers sweater"

Well if you were at the game tonight John then you'll see why I think it's a good idea.
If the ref's were of better quality then yes it would be easy to accept their decisions but we're not in an ideal world and the refing is getting worse.

'Super League' REF Roby tonight as well.....he was dire.

Yes I was at the game tonight and knew straight away that the ref was in for a bad game when he took our kickoff and put it dead.
He also made many handling errors, dropped at least two high balls failed to follow Karls game plan and didn't put the Leigh player into touch with two minutes to go.



I am far more disapointed with my teams performance tonight than I am with the officials.

Yes, our players made mistakes but I was far more upset with the standard of the ref.

IMO the team played better tonight than our last 2 wins, yes Fax made mistakes as always, but mistakes made by Leigh were rewarded.
Don't get me wrong I'm not against referees, they do a hard job that i couldn't do, but if I made the amount of bad decisions in my job Roby did tonight I'd be out on my ear!

It just showed a decent super league referee penalised Fax for the way they play like they should be every week. Had Roby reffed in Blackpool would have seen Fax's slow laying on pathetic game plan beaten too. Paul Rowley knows how to beat that clearly (3 times now is no fluke). So looking forward to playing Leigh in grand final after they dispose of Harrisons WWE team in play offs. Ha ha

Try it as a neutral. When you do you will be astonished they aren't as bad as you think they are as you do when watching your own team.

I know what you mean, i found that with most games i've watched since having prem sports.
Although last week watching Keighly v Leigh I found most decisions went Keighlys way. I try to look at our games from both sides and rarely blame ref's, but honestly from where I was sat there were some very obvious knock on's by Leigh that Leigh were rewarded pens for! Something must have gone on your end too as your lot were slating him too at one point. He was poor tonight.
The whole point of this tread to start with was, is the system they're trialing in Aus a good idea? I think it is and also think it would make the game even more entertaining!

Again I keep harping on, its not that ref`s favour one team its quite simply that they are inconsistent with their decisions. I mean you only have to look at a number of incidents that show the ref had a terrible game. The two knock ons on our line by Leigh that lead to their try, the Patterson ball steal, when the ball comes out like that its pretty obvious its been reefed, the White try which imo was one of the worst decisions ive seen all year. Theres no way Leigh had crossed the advantage line. The one where we were offside from a kick and the Leigh player knocked on, I watched our players run and there was only the guys in the middle offside and they wernt within the ten and lets not mention getting Leigh offside from a drop out.

The holding downs were terrible as well and thats very frustrating because we saw when we got a quick play the ball we were all over them. I guess in that aspect he was consistent because in a game where there probably should have been 20 or so penalties for holding down we were lucky if there were 2.

He`s clearly not good enough for SL and on that showing Im not sure why we should put up with him either.
