it was fax well in control at 24-4 and let Sheffield back into it.

did well to get the game back under control.

especially after a bad injury to Mark Goodman, broken leg badly and taken to hospital.

he was palying well too, and had nailed two conversions from the touch line!

we couldnt and didnt want to see from where we were sat, but afew of the lads looked close to tears.

I spoke briefly with the physio after the game to check on my lad's nose injury & she quoted the doc as saying that Goody's leg injury would probably need surgery & probably cost him his season. Poor do all round for any player at any level.
Well played lads, they were physically much bigger but I thought we had more quality in & around the ruck. We have some good younger lads within the squad with several 17 & 18 year olds competing well now they've got the speed and intensity of this standard. It looks as though Fev are quite a way in front of the rest of the other teams at the moment, but as I say, we've got some very good youth and we should be able to turn out a decent U18's team mid season too.
Ben Manning at hooker would have been my M.O.M.

Pete McNamara and myself were commenting last night on how much bigger and older the Eagles players looked compared to our lads. Ben Manning looked very sharp at hooker, and Mark Goodman looked good until his injury.

Thought that Sheffield were going to come back and pinch the win, but credit to the lads, they got stuck in and denied them.

First U23's/reserves game I have been to in a few years, but will certainly be making the effort to get to more this season

Mark will be having an operation on a double break today

Good luck to him in his recovery.
