| The football club put money into the three new stands, the rugby didn't. The rugby also owe £52,000 in rent. That contribution would help with maintenance and put the capacity of the Skircoat and North Stand up immediately.

Absolute child read my WORDS I do not worship Tony Abbott he is a businessman who has a plan for developing the Shay but as I have said before this we can only believe if he produces the goods as in he passes all the necessary due diligence if the Council go down that road which they may be forced to yet as the local population who pay Council tax may have a say as it is losing money FACT.

| There's a few twitter accounts which are absolutely obsessed with the rugby hating. Massive confusion surrounds their perception of the Tony Abbott/Halifax RLFC entities. When you strip away the depth to their ramblings (we're talking about a head's worth of a pint of London Ale here) what's basically happened is that Halifax RLFC have put a bid in to buy The Shay. That's it. When you strip away the venom and the froth; that's the size of it. You will NEVER reason with that kind of mentality, no matter how many pages these threads create.
And the ultimate irony - whilst others congratulate Calderdale Council for their efforts leading up to this weekend the idiot Town fans are too busy slagging Tony Abbott off.
Rabid Neanderthals.

| Quote ="SuperGeoff"Ah the Irony of, yes you guessed it, this being posted from behind a keyboard.'"
The point was instead of repeating over and over again the same arguments on forums like these from behind a keyboard that does nothing to solve the issues.
If it is that important surely it's better to channel the effort where it really matters, out in the open with the powers that be.
Lets all come out from behind the keyboard and ask the Council to start a petition or poll of some kind with the population of Calderdale to see what the consensus is regarding the Shay.
Being a community assett let everybody in the community decide what is best for it and them.
If some of the community can't be bothered to get involved well at least they were asked and the majority can have their say.
Again it's the Council who hold the cards not Town or Fax fans and if we really want to put pressure on the Council what better way to do it, if public opinion is strong enough against the sale then the chances of them selling it become less, but it may work the other way round.
It's not the case as you claim that Fax fans automatically think because it's TA involved it must be for the good, far from it, there are loads of questions.
What exactly will the terms of any sale be?
If it is sold is it possible to legally ensure that the Shay must stay a sporting stadium that can't be revoked or are these legal ties not really worth the paper the are written on?
If the purchaser gets in to financial trouble or has an accident of somekind at a later date what will be in place then to keep it as a sporting venue?
Etc, etc.
At the moment they are considering the options, so during that time.
We want and have a right to answers from them that are clear and address the key issues and are put in print then there can be no arguments or misunderstandings.
I'll sign on, will you?

If the numpties took a minute to breathe and stop slinging their spears and arrows at Tony Abbott, they'd probably realise that a majority of Fax fans share their concerns, they're just more dignified in their approach.
Only difference, we KNOW we are tenants at the Shay and don't expect a say in the matter. Bell ends

I've been away for a weekend of gigs all over the place, that's why i chose not to attend the RL world cup
game at the Shay yesterday. As the broadcast went live on tv & Andrew Voss began to give our town, district & stadium many varied compliments i sent out a simple text to many mates & family saying this: "Looks great on tv a packed out Shay stadium". Most of the replies i received back were complimentry of the organisation, atmosphere, communal feeling etc etc etc. I got one negative, from a Town fan & former work colleague of mine ( Bubba knows who i mean ), his reply was this: "shame it's for rugby" Now, two things here, it shows the lack of intelligence & respect for our sport 'cos i believe the "rugby" match was played at Twickenham the day previously and secondly, smacked of pure jealousy, this game didn't even involve the club he dis-affectionately calls "squatters" it was a world cup game, that's world cup that over 10,000 people chose to attend. I know several RL & Halifax RLFC followers who chose not to go for various reasons yesterday but it appears that the game is alive and kicking despite all that we negate it, those of us who do.
Absolutely spiteful, jealousy & bitterness on all fronts sums up many Halifax Town football fans. Put an attendance in of over 10,000 and you can start talking i say, challenge on.'"

Some of the club put money and effort in, the amounts are their business ,in fact most people don't keep account of the donations of time and money and they don't expect to be asked to explain themselves.
Over the years others actually volunteered their skills, for example laying mortar and brickwork in parts of the Shay.
Former coach John Pendlebury for one who was a brickie by trade and did voluntary building works within the ground.
The rent issue has been flogged to death.
One last attempt.
Two people rent 2 apartments in the same block and both owe a fixed amount of rent.
Both tenants have an agreed time scale to pay the landlord.
One pays their amount early in the time scale, the other pays later, as long as they pay on time within the timescale then no problem.
What arrangements each party has with the landlord is their business and they do not have to explain themselves to people who aren't even one of the tenants involved anyway.

Do you really believe we have an agreed timescale that allows us to be more than
one year in arrears ?I think we are in a mess. The coming months will show how
genuine TA is,now the shay sale is off.

Yes I do believe there is an agreement in place concerning the rent, otherwise the council would not have sat round the table with a bad debtor in the first place and would be taking stronger action.
It would be strange for someone to put £100,000 in the cash flow coffers and not be genuine or if they were unable to pay the rent and there were to be any negative repercussions from not doing so.
What is the basis for the being in a mess thought.
As you say only the future will show us where we really are and if the sale of the Shay is really off permanently.

| I don`t believe the Shay sale is off the statement doesn`t say it will never be sold , it`s just been delayed .I believe it`s only a matter of time before the Council sells it ,granted it may not be to TA (would he still want it after all that has happened who knows) but someone will buy it no doubt.

| Quote ="The Lucky Black Cat"I would class atleast once a month as regular. The Calderdale population is just over 200,000.
3% of 200,000 = 6,000. I very much doubt 6,000 people who live in Calderdale have been to the Shay since january 1st except for maybe yesterday. Even for people who do follow Fax/Town, many dont live in Calderdale. I know a number of Fax fans that live in Kirklees, Bradford/Keighley, Leeds, Lancashire/Manchester etc. I very much doubt that more than a couple of hundred people who live in Calderdale have played at the 5 a side in 2013. And its highly unlikely thousand of locals have been to The Shay for a function in the past couple of months. And what amateur finals have been played at The Shay in 2013?
The library is used by schools tohelp them learn to read and it also holds local public archives. Also the internet as well as other facilities are available at the library. It serves a far wider part of the community than what you may think. The library also hosts many help and support groups. But luddites like yourself ignore this.
What about the swimming baths?
Your blind selfishness helps you to ignore the important role that swimming baths have. Many Schools get kids their and help them learn to swim. Something that may save their lives one day. How can you put a price on that? The Swimming baths are more than just a swimming pool but offer other sporting facilities and are again used by many people from Schools to elderly groups to pregnancy groups. But just ignore the important role they play as clearly Halifax Town are far more important!
The Theatre has hosted many events and caters for people from all backgrounds. From Music concerts to comedians to pantomimes. The theatre offers many things to the local population and its typical of luddites to fail to see what the Victoria Theatre offers.
As usual you luddites like to think you know everything even what Fax fans think. I dont know of one Fax fan who has said that TA should take over The Shay without certain conditions being met. Many like myself would have liked a bit more info. Its clear the shay under the Council will get along with the bare minimum invested. The Shay already has a very old stand which is falling quickly into mess. 2 stands have capacity reduced. The Shay needs outside investment for it to be a modern stadium and have modern facilities so that far more people as currently to use it for far more different reasons. Its only the short sighted and blind luddites that fail to see this. Town fans will never do whats best for the Stadium only for their small backwards thoughts and are happy to live in the past in a fast decaying stadium.'"
What a joke - were you spouting this nonsense 7 years ago when we marched on the Town Hall together to protest against private ownership?
Hypocrisy of the highest order.
If you deluded fools would take a break from using the words 'neanderthals' and 'luddites' at every possible opportunity (because it really really hurts when you say such nasty things) and actually look at the situation you would see how obvious it is that the only reason you backed this bid is because it was Tony Abbott.
Despite the obvious and real risk to your club should this deceitful spin king get his grubby mitts on The Shay you are blinded by your undying love for this man.
T Hall has talked some sense in voicing his concerns and is getting shot down. The disregard you have for your club is shocking.
As for the rent keep kidding yourself that all is well and/or brushing it under the carpet. Keep telling yourselves that being £250k in the red is not of your concern. It goes hand-in-hand with your disregard for the club's future security anyway.
Fact is, you hate your club.
Whilst on the subject of rent, funny how the 'agreement' you had with the council was for Reactiv to add the rent arrears onto any purchase. Why would the rugby club's debts be included within Reactiv's negotiations - it's not HRLFC buying The Shay is it?????
Perhaps The Shay needs outside investment of some kind. All opportunities should be explored. What we most definitely should not do is sell for tuppence to a southern spin king who comes forward with a 'vision' and a mortgage.
Cloud Cuckoo Land is simply a short stop-off on the way to where you guys belong, such are your levels of naivity and delusion.
The FCHT fans have done a fantastic job of saving your club and will ALWAYS do what is best for The Shay. It's just a shame our cultist co-tenants couldn't care less about anything other than Abbott's balance sheet.
Remember kids:

But you are just listening to the bile spewed out constantly by the FCHT maggots. By that I do not mean all FCHT fans but just the minority who post on Shaymen.net. Being a FCHT fan (as well as a Fax fan) you seem to give them more credence than the rest of us.
1. The accounts which keep being posted are up to November 2012, a year old.
2. Since then TA/Reactiv have invested £60,000 in December 2012 and a further £100,000 in July 2013.
3. The club , I believe, has since last year trimmed it's playing budget due to the current financial climate and the subsequent drop in attendances.
4. If you look at the total liabilities of the club and it's net worth for 2009 to 2012 you will see that the debt has actually gone down year by year, not by much I grant you, but I would be more concerned if it was increasing year on year.
5. I may be wrong but I think there may be more to the rent issue than meets the eye because, firstly, I can't see the club just not bothering to pay CMBC for such a long period of time and, secondly, I can't see CMBC letting them get away with it.
6. Yes, the club COULD now be further in the red. I doubt it myself but I concern myself more with the team's performance than the club's balance sheet which is down to the club's Directors and beyond my control.
I know that a number of FCHT fans would love to see Halifax RLFC go out of business but we've just celebrated our 140th Anniversary and I suspect we'll be around for a long time yet.

I accept that it can't be easy being a supporter of both clubs and having to divide your loyalties. I myself have no interest in football whatsoever having been brought up on RL and attending a school which only played Rugby (unfortunately the other type )
Having said that I appreciate that it's each to his own and I always check FCHT's results as I like to see anything to do with Halifax succeed. I've always said that, had I been into football, I would have supported my local team and it always saddens me to see how many Halifax people support Leeds, Manchester etc. There are some in Halifax who support Bulls, Rhinos etc but not to the same extent as we do tend to be more colloquial in RL.
I suspect the divides between FCHT and Fax are now too wide to ever be bridged which is a shame as it is a hindrance to the success of both clubs.
