Shows you how thick the Luddites are if they cant see why the Council needs to sell The Shay. The statement, not that it is needed to anybody with half a brain cell, is just confirmation that The Council like others is in a financial mess and that they will need to sell if offers are made and the terms are right. Its clear that there will not be any further development of The Shay and even keeping the stadium in a good state is not something the Council can promise. The Skircoat Stand with its grass in the Toilets, broken seats and Roof and the North Stand with its capacity reduced will be closed in the future forever if it stays under Council control. I still would like some more info from Tony Abbott about his plans but its clear The Shay will go downhill under The Council

Geoff I know you are a thick luddite but the Shay is open for offer in the future. The present offer has not been accepted but that they are still talking to Reactivmedia. Why if its not for Sale? If the Council want to keep hold of the Shay why look for ideas and other resources?

Anything will always be open to an offer. There is nothing to prevent someone bidding for something that is not for sale. If they were that desperate to sell it they'd have it on the market faster than you can say Pay Day Loans. I think it is clear from that statement that the council want to keep control of the Shay, put possibly allow sponsorship of the ground name and the stands, again, something I'd have not qualms with.

Mr Abbott will get out bid by Bubba and his Bubberites, they are selling the contents of Towns trophy room to raise the funds.

You can read into that what you wish but it does not actually say we are not selling it in the long term and you and I know they can't while the ACV is in place.
I read it that they are happy to listen to sensible suggestions and you know what one might be to sell it if that becomes the best option.

Oh the irony in that statement. The only way I can see selling it become the best option for the council is if the Stadium Trust were to reemerge and to control of the ground.

The Stadium Trust was a poor option last time and was a waste and achieved little. It also will not have the money ever to develop the stadium and wont have money to sort the North or Skircoat stands out which are in a poor state and need investment that will cost millions. Its a matter of time before the Council sell the Stadium. The Council are leaking money and a stadium that is a financial millstone will get sold one day. Its just a question of when and to whom. Blinkered Luddites that follow the FC Pubteam may rejoice now, but for how long?

The North Stand was developed in the summer. The Shay is losing a very small amount of money in comparison to other facilities in Calderdale. And would that be the pub team that play in a league with a higher level of interest than the second tier of Rugby League?

Why don't you have a look through some of your own posts and fellow Fax fans. The only person not using any insults here has been myself. I'm sure a quick scan through would confirm this. I'd assume that every single FCHT fan that could make it will be there (sporting occasions of this magnitude only come round very infrequently, regardless of the game rules or shape of ball).

FC Halifax Town or Halifax Rugby League FC... there's one common word there... "Halifax"...

No it wasnt it was tarted up with the bare minimum of work. The Capacity is reduced due to the state of the stand like lack of toilets amongst other things. The Shay is losing alot of money and something the Council cant afford in the long term. It will be sold off whether we like it or not. Its just a question of when. Higher level of interest to whom? Now you are having a laugh the SST failed to deliver yet still claims the credit for getting the Council to complete the East Stand when it was actually the fans of BOTH clubs who united and marched on the Town Hall which made the Councillors do something.

I got to say, looking at all the evidence, I don't think Reactiv will be buying the shay. Seems the council have been caught on the hop and there's a fair few legal hurdles to jump.

Maybe Tony should invest all he can in making Fax as great as he can do.......

I would agree with that Nige. The conference is a tough league and whatever the feelings that exist between RL and Footy fans I have no doubts about the validity of that statement. RL both outside AND IN super league has some major restructuring to get through.
