Shout It From The Rooftops - by Steve MascordTHE recent L'Equipe story on rugby union's collusion with the Vichy government and the impact on French rugby league rammed home a big point to me about our game's weaknesses.
That is, our lack of awareness in the rugby league "first world" about what is happening in the rugby league "second world" and especially the "third world". While most of the readers of this column would have been aware of what occured during the Second World War in France, the vast majority of Australian fans were not.

The game is a wonderful product Steve but is and has often been let down by the very people who are supposed to manage it as well as follow it. Its very easy to criticize Union, but the people within our game right now dont help. what about the way many fans fail to support the International game whether in Europe or Australasia? We struggle to fill 30,000 Stadiums.
Until we sort out having proper Organizations that our properly run and have people who have proper Leadership skills and set out a road map not just for certain sections of the game but the whole setup we will struggle. Until we have fans getting out their and turning up to Internationals, instead of saying its a waste and moaning about it then we will struggle. Until we have clubs who look to make decisions for the good of the game and not themselves we will struggle.

Would having just one domestic body and one international body help us, the way RL is ran in England compared to Oz is light years apart but it hasn't always been so, so what is going so wrong here and so right in Australia?
Can we not get the investment and leadership from the other side of the world to help improve the competition and game as a whole?
