| I'm just surprised he lasted as long as he did there seemed to be a significant amount of "fans" who wanted him gone long ago.

| Sadly, nobody's prepared to put up with second (or worse) place any more.
There are hints in the press release towards "difficulties" behind the scenes so it may not be simply performances which have precipitated this. We don't know.
This extra £¼m for finishing second instead of third has created a spot of bother and is ill thought out, imho.

| I was surprised he didn't go after we smashed them in the playoffs last year. Though the statement doesn't make good reading I do hope the club is ok behind the scenes.

| If I was a Halifax fan, glad I'm not like, I'd be looking forward to next season despite the undertones of the announcement. A new coach with fresh ideas, plus the rugby will be more entertaining than it was under Harrison.

| They could still finish 3rd, what were they genuinely expecting from this season? The top 4 was tight last year and but for a meteoric decline from Batley, and to a lesser extent yourselves, (don't here many of you calling for Aston's head) the top 4 was always going to be tight again.

Agreed, we've had a struggle of a season but it never got to the stage where I thought Aston should move on. If Ben Black had been fit for the whole season, the aforementioned Batley would have stayed up at a canter imo.

| I think it's just annoyed them that Batley and yourselves have slipped up, but instead of those taking advantage Donny have nipped in. Which to be far, is as unexpected to us as it is to everyone else having spent all year talking trying to #MakeThe8

| Seems that way, and the missed opportunities too, us beating Fev for example. Midseason I was just hoping we'd make the 8 also, it's nice to see we've done that with consummate ease ever since Briggs joined us.

| Yeah he is a good little player; thought he would have kicked on more when he was a young lad at Donny but it never worked out at Bradford

| Yeah the Fev fans seemed to give the consensus of 'we've got better in our squad so you can have him', so it must have been nice for him to get a hat-trick at POR. Him and Brambani have struck up a great partnership which will carry on into next season. See you've re-signed 4 more today Jemmo, good things going on at Donny it seems!

| Yeah we're quite happy with how the last few years have gone; an we'll actually have a bit of money to spend for a change next year. Our biggest problem is going to be keeping hold of Paul Cooke I imagine

| You've excelled in the Championship brilliantly, more so when Cooke took charge post Tony Miller. Can imagine he'll be in demand if a few SL teams chop and change next season when the pressure is on.
