Interesting day today with Huddersfield winning the Super League winners shield and Doncaster beating us and what is the connection between the two - failed mergers. This got me thinking who is our main rival which team do you take great pride in winning against ? I have only been supporting Sheffield for the last 3 years so for me it has to be Featherstone we have had some interesting games in the last few seasons especially last week and the highlight beating them in the Grand Final last season.What annoys me about them is that the whole population of the town is 15K yet they get attendances of 2K compared to Sheffield with a population of 500K and only attendances of 1K !!!

We have only started playing the reformed Doncaster this season, geography suggests they are our rivals but i personally dont mind them doing well, it is good for South Yorkshire rugby league. However I guess they hate us though trying to merge/take them over in 1995.

Which leads us to Huddersfield there was an interesting report on Look North showing an old clip in the late 1980's early 1990's of Huddersfield old ramshackle ground with hardly any supporters when we merged in 1999 we were the better side it sounded like we got well and truly shafted in that deal in our first season they only played 2 matches in Sheffield all the rest was in Huddersfield no wonder it only lasted one season and I guess for long standing supporters they are to blame to our demise so I guess taht Huddersfield are our real rivals although the only chance at present of playing them at the moment is in the cup

I hate Huddersfield a lot more than Doncaster. Featherstone don't bother me.

Featherstone expands and contracts depending on what point its supporters are making.

One minute, the team has the highest attendance/population average in the world, the next minute they have a catchment area of millions because a bloke from Rawmarsh goes to games.

I'm another bloke from Rawmarsh but I follow the Eagles so do I cancel him out and the team I most like to see beaten is Halifax

Don't think we have a big rival as such. Obvious animosity towards Huddersfield but we've not played them for a lot of years. I guess geographically it's Doncaster but I wish them no ill.

There's barely a club we visit where I don't know at least one person.

Struggling to "hate" anyone. I'd rather leave that sort of stuff to soccer.

Huddersfield is my biggest pet hate, beating fax is always nice apart from that and the heavy dual reg abusers i'm not too bothered about anyone else in a rivalry way

I like doncaster like alot do, maybe that is because there is only 2 clubs in south yorkshire? unlike the M62 and west yorkshire

Halifax - mainly because of the Sam Barlow & Rob Worrincey affairs.

Like going to York not just because we usually hammer them on the rare occasions that we are in the same division but also because both my wife and myself have relatives in York so we enjoy a good crack with them in the evening.

I enjoy playing Halifax as it sends some of their forum into a raging meltdown.

What we have to remember with halifax is that they get around 500 or so more through the turnstiles than us this makes them one of the biggest clubs in the country obviously and the likes of us who i quote from there forum "For the last 10 years tho you have been a waste of sunday afternoon/Thursday evening/Friday t time (or when every you can find somewhere to play)." are simply not worthy to be on the same field as them

fax outnumbered us tonight it was the worst turn out from us this season apart from leigh east in the cup, to be quite honest i'm more bothered with the news thats come out after the game not these petty things

" I think they had all there hopes pinned on the bawtry road site and to be honest when we went to have a look last week theres nothing there but for whatever reason it's fell through, if they moved to wakefield or somewhere similar that has been mentioned/rumored they wouldn't last the year out in my opinion. I'm sure someone will shoot me down for that
