| The BBC cameras were at Woodburn Road Athletics Pitch this afternoon with the announcement that Hallam University have taken over the lease this got me thinking we have close links with Hallam Uni and we need a temporary home for at least the next 2 seasons could this venue be repaired and renovated for Rugby League ? initial thoughts are that the site might be too small, we would need a bigger stand (at least 500 seats) and is the grass surface suitable ? is it wide enough for a rugby pitch ? If we cant use Woodburn Road where will we play ? we have played no games at Bramall Lane this season and unless they relay the pitch with special grass it is unlikely we can play every game at Bramall Lane I presume Hillsborough would be a No Owlerton will be a no (they race on Friday and Saturday nights and speedway races on Thursday) this leaves no other sport stadia in Sheffield we would need to look outside the city so possibly Rotherham or Chesterfield FC personally I would prefer Rotherham what do other people think ?

| As far as i know they were looking at bawtry road as a temporary home with the uni, rotherham would be a no as rotherham united wouldn't let rotherham titans ru use the ground, could chesterfield be an option? not sure
personally i think bawtry road would be the best option, moving outside the city boundaries would be a disaster for us but if thats the only way then so be it

| For me that would be a terrible move its very difficult to get to by Public Transport i have looked on South Yorkshire Journey Planner for a 8pm kickoff which finishes at 9:45 it suggests i walk 30 min to Meadowhall South tram I wont get home till 23:15 whilst at the moment i would get back home at 22:30 brilliant what a wonderful way to get new fans !! looked on google earth i have seen the rugby pitch but there is no stand or any other facilities its annoying that we have the best sheffield eagles team since we have reformed which deserves a chance to play in the super league however this ground issue could be a massive blow for the club and even if we got promoted we would probably be denied due to lack of ground facilities

| Just Checked yes we have played twice at Bramall Lane but not since 24th May so hopefully we can still play a few games there during the next couple of seasons

| Woodbourne Road isn't going to be suitable for next season. We have actually played a game there before - against Workington Town. If we were going to use it long term, it'd need months and months of work and there'd be no athletics track there when it was finished.
Parking would be an issue too. Might not affect you as a public transport user but it'd make it more difficult to get the planning permissions.

| We played at Woodbourn road once and it was awful.
Wherever we end up playing next season, it's important to remember that it's a temporary measure until the new stadium is built.

Not sure what other options are around, As for bawtry road as I understand they would be putting temporary stands up if this is where we go
As Hillsborough lad says it is a temporary measure wherever it maybe
I'm fairly safe in saying the club will be trying everything they can to secure the best temporary home they can, once the new stadium is here it will be a distant memory

| Great Idea I have been there once for a football match its a nice compact stadium but that could be the problem according to wiki a football pitch is normally 105 x 68 metres whist a rugby league pitch is normally 112-122 x 68 metres so touch and go whether it would fit and i would suggest that it would not be allowed on health and safety grounds if you bundle someone into touch they could collide with an advertising hording and be badly injured. Its a pity only 12 mins on the train and apparently there are some decent real ale pubs in the town including the Thornbridge owned coach and horses attached to the ground

True enough but it is the home ground of Sheffield FC so it carries the Sheffield name in a zig-zag sort of way.
To get down to more serious matters, does anyone know what is happening re the proposed new stadium. I read last week that Richard Caborn was masterminding it, which fills me with no confidence whatsoever.
Also I read in today's Star that a last minute attempt to save DVS is being planned. Hmmmm.

I saw a couple of week back an interview with Richard Caborn which he said they had around a quarter of the money for the whole project (£10 mill) and more interested parties were about to come on board so there is some hope at least
As for DVS i think the writing is on the wall, the council are clearly desperate to get rid of it sadly

It's even more out of the way than bawtry road!, i suppose it could be an option but I doubt if it would be a popular one TBH

I love stocksbridge's ground but i would prefer us to be at sandygate road if it's going to be a stadium of this sort of size purely because it's closer to the city

Dreamers. The place costs far more to run than the revenues it earns. Unless somebody fancies chipping in the shortfall, it's doomed.
Meanwhile, the Huntington Stadium, which is about the same age, is being razed and rebuilt. No-one batting an eyelid there. Nice little stadium but the dressing rooms aren't big enough for eighteen blokes to get changed - let alone all the staff we cart round with us these days.

I don't think anyone here would bat an eyelid either if DVS were to be demolished and rebuilt as a facility fit for purpose. For all the moaning that Tony Minichiello has done about the demolition, neither he nor Jessica Ennis has, as far as I can see, done a thing about "saving" it.
The new stadium at York will be used by York City as well as the Knights or so my brother in law, a York City season ticket holder, tells me.
Where will Eagles play if the proposed new development doesn't go ahead?

Fact is, she needs a track to train on. She doesn't need the stands.

I was told on Sunday that the plan is to play there for another season or two, then have a season at KitKat Crescent and the new ground should be ready the following season.

Groundshare with Shuddersfield, I think.
