Anyone got any recommendations for pre-match pubs for Sunday close-ish to Bramall Lane? Minibus full arriving at half 1ish, would be good to chat to a few Eagles fans.

Normally Eagles fans can be found in the Nelson pub, which is near Decathlon, the pub at the railway station is a good place for a drink too

Nelson on Arundel Street is best. Ample parking and ten minutes walk from the lane.

Mmmmm make no wonder me and Mrs Airborne have been on our jacks in the Sportsman, plus it was shut for the vs Toulouse home game.

Went into the [delCricketers[/del Railway!! and made sure I wiped my feet.......on the way out.

I can vouch for the Sheffield Tap at the station but again we don't want away fans drinking the best beer - John Smiths/Carlsberg is perfectly good enough for travelling fans



PS - Nelson - stupid name for a pub in Sheffield, we have to be at least 70 miles from the nearest sea :S

Sounds like the Tap is the best bet, especially as a few of us like our ales. Cheers lads.

Google Thornbridge Brewery - the Sheffield Tap has several of their beers on at all times.
10 minute walk to the ground or 15-20 if yuo've been drinking Thornbridge Kipling or Jaipur

Can honestly say i've never been in many of these pubs! Kelham Island is quite good though but i'm happy with a corona or a cheap watered down fosters!

The Nelson was OK - more than double the number of Eagles fans that often frequent the Sportsman.......

Went in the Tap for one and there were a fair few Leythers in. Only had the one pint though at £4.20 a chuck!

Bl**dy hell, a while since I have been because there isn't much else close by.

Expensive - even by Sheffield city centre standards.

Next year you could try The Sheaf Island which is a Wetherspoons at the bottom of Eccleshall Road - probably closer than the station - less than 10 minute walk. Typical JDW pub not lots of atmosphere but cheap enough.

£4.20 thats expensive even by the capitals standards, did you get Burger n Chips with it.
