Just wanted to say hi, new to the fourm, followed Saints for years but have come to Sheffield for uni, in my second year but only went to my first eagles game on sunday and loved every minute. Eagles fans were a bit quiet but on the whole really enjoyed it and thought the stadium and everything was great!

haha i was sat on the right hand side further down though. I heard Eaggggllleesssss about 5 times. Sounding more like a cry for help than a chant

Debating whether to go the wigan game as watching wigan vs saints the other week their defence is outstanding on the line and I have a feeling 70-80 points could be on the cards.

Welcome mate, let's face it, there wasn't much to sing about and hasn't been all season!! Glad you enjoyed it and are purchasing a season ticket, get some of your mates down too!!

I brought six newcomers to rugby league and the main thing they was all suprised with was how much all the fans got on, one was amazed we was all sat in one stand with no steward seperating us! They all thought that the repsect the players give to the ref to is miles better than football too!

I'm sure when all the fans start finding each other in the stand the shout of eagles will be more noticed!! Didn't hear the drum did that get left at DVS lol??

Perhaps there should be a section allocated for home and away fans? I know it's rugby league and not football where fans need splitting up but I think it would help the newcomers like myself and all the old loyal fans enjoy the game better and after a few games everyone will know where to go!

The Drummer has actually retired. So if anyone is interested, im sure the club would love to hear the drum back. More noise and cheering for the EAGLES would be great. Cant get any quieter!!!!!!

Sheffield United started a new singing section iniative for the last match,there was about 100 at the back of gangway A and they made the noise of 1,000's,There hoping it will catch on and have bigger numbers next season,With like minded people who want to make noise it should be a goer,What about a dedicated section,Say Gangway B or whatever,Even the announcer could let people know before the next home game,Tell everybody who wants to sing sit in a certain area.

I like that idea EB. As far as the drum goes good riddance in my opinion! But that's just me, don't know what other people think...

I think in time people will congregate tgether like at DVS it takes time to get used to a stadium and it will take a few games for fans to figure it all out. I was very impressed with Bramall lane though, much , much better than DVS

Myself and a few friends are travelling over early (should be there for 11ish) and was wondering if there are any good places that serve food near the stadium and by food i don't mean KFC or McDonalds lol

there are lots of pubs/bars in the city centre alsolondon road runs behind the stadium. some good drink/food/ indian/chinese places on there

If you want the best drink (beer) in Sheffield then google the Sheffield Station and head for the Sheffield Tap which is a real ale bar in the station itself. The selection there is second to none and the quality is good too. They do have the fizzy stuff and ciders and also the best selection of bottled beers I know.

If you are arriving that early though I wouldn't head for the ground there is nothing great in the immediate area.

If you can find your way to the centre by the City Hall/John Lewis store then lots of bars there or find the square between the town hall and the Crucible for soem nice pavement cafe/bars.

A point to note Sheffield is a city so be prepared to pay a lot more.

There is a good fish and chip shop (Moor Fisheries) on Cumberland Street behind Staples 5 mins from the ground.

Snooker starts this saturday,theres a few pubs round the crucible and a beer tent i think with a big screen,Should be a good atmosphere and different alternative.

I agree that the Sheffield Tap is excellent, dont go at the end of the day's drinking as it can finish you off as I discovered last Sunday!
