At risk of us becoming something of a rehab clinic for naughty Aussies, I must confess that I would not complain about us signing Carney.

I was thinking the opposite.

It worked so well with Greg Bird that we couldn't be so lucky again.

But there was a reason it worked for Bird, the chance to get away from the influences and issues that were causing the problems back in Aus - it is a world away from the vicious media over there. Honestly I think it could work.

How many forinners are we going to end up with? And while Jon may have a point re Bird, isn't Carney a different case.

Either way there's plenty salary cap space between those two.

My gut feeling is that Dureau won't be back next year. It seems too convenient him seeing out the season down under on loan. That would see Pryce, Dureau and Webb off the salary cap for next year - arguably the Dragons' three highest earners.

I'm not saying they will sign Carney but that is a good wedge to play with for 2015.

I had that feeling about Scott, but everyone I speak to with a connection to the corridors of power at Gilbert Brutus are confident he is coming back.

He was dreadful then and he has got worse with age. A twenty eight year old man who thinks it is appropriate to urinate in his own mouth. Despite his talent the NRL realise that his persistent idiocy is unacceptable.

Not sure how the last line is relevant. There are plenty of other clubs in Super League who are far less efficient in their youth systems than us, having had far many more years to get it right....





And if he gets up to those tricks in Perpignan, Bernard will clear him from the club as he has with other mercenaries. Who are you to tell whether or not we should give him a chance? He's hardly the first or last rugby league player to be sucked in by the bad influences in Australia's media vacuum.

Feel free to list the [uplenty of other clubs[/u in SL 2015 who will have as many non British players as Catalans will have non French. While you are at it highlight the other SL clubs that have as large a player catchment area as the Dragons.

The media did not convict carney nor did they photo shop him. He is responsible for his own vile conduct. It would be sad if Bernard believes Carney's conduct is consistent with a family sport.

Signing needs to be ratified by the RFL board. Decision expected within 5 days.

Calm down, stop spitting feathers, breathe, and listen. He didn't say anything about nationality, he said there are clubs who PRODUCE less players of their own than Catalan, he also correctly stated that ALL the other clubs in SL have a ready made pool of juniors and over 100 years of practice.

He is responsible, he lost a very lucrative career in the NRL, I would suggest he regrets it. Either way I've done worse while involved in said "family sport"

Would be a great signing for any club in SL. really looking forward to it.

Amazing signing Catalans, you've enhanced the Super League by recruiting who will be by far the best halfback in the competition.

Not sure about that - in fact I am sure it's not - but if it's good enough for Anna Friel...

The main thing is that he's already been denied a visa for the UK thanks to previous, non [iaqua fortis[/i misdemeanours. While he'd be employed in France, his work would entail numerous visits to the UK and that has potential to cause issues. Which is what I guess the RFL are consulting on.
