I know that Dobson and Eden didn't knock on but surely as Eden was stood in front of Dobson when he picked the ball up why wasn't he pulled for offside?

Offside rules don't apply in your own in-goal area. However Eden clearly grounded the ball while attempting to pick it up so the try should have been chalked off regardless.

Greg was ruled to have knocked the ball backwards and not ground it.
