They try to get a bargaining position. France is staunch on this law. RL is a minor sport in France, I can't see the French administration make an exception for the Aussie team which would create a precedent for larger sport (foot, F1, RU...).
So they actually may try to influence the RFL to change the venue for England.
Anyway, nobody drinks VB in France, they just have to put lots of VB ads in Australia...
Wigan turned this into a positive when they went to Perp, giving away their sponsorship to Whizzkids because they couldn't have Mecca Bingo advertised on french TV. I know Oz are small, but smaller than Wigan?
The way I see it Oz have no choice, sort their kit sponsorship of forfeit the match.
