With a few returning from injury, and Joel Tomkins and seemingly now Todd Carney, we look a more formidable outfit.

I guess the test is, how would you feel if he signed for Widnes or Toronto? For me it’d be ‘more worried’.

IF we was going to take that gamble I’d of said Chris Sandow would of been a better option but when I seen Carney play in the nrl he looked class hopefully sheens will get him playing well and keep him off the booze this really is his last chance

I agree with Mild Rover. I'd rather have him with us then against us. He's someone who can change a game with a touch of brilliance and with Maguire's passes he could be a sensation.

He certainly was a class player, he hasn't shown it for the last 4/5 years though.

Honestly I'd rather play a Rovers team with Carney at half back than Atkins.

We retain that option though. And it’s not about a one-off game.

At the moment we have a decent hb pairing in McGuire and Atkin. If one of those were injured, then the middle 8s would look a good bit scarier with the options being guys ‘filling in’.

Would not have been my choice short term,jackson hastings would be,but if we got injuries in the halves,we would have to turn to our homegrown star half back matty marsh,so got to be a good deal short term.

It’s a pretty no lose situation to sign him really, or any of the other half backs available. Sheens rates him, and has a bit of experience in this league so can see the sense.

At least we can rest easy knowing that we won’t be going into the split with marsh and Blair at half back.

If he’s up to speed Atkin as a back up hooker to Lunt for me is the best move. But I’d be happy with current half back standings and Carney waiting but don’t think he would be signing to sit in the stands

IF fit will be the best player in the middle 8s. Can win games on his own.

Most players Rovers sign are deemed to be rubbish Vaivai for example was an unknown nobody Tomkins a disgrace.

Tell you what we are looking a lot stronger for having them.

Todd Carney is fit and available and has 9 games to show everyone he is worth a deal for 2019. I think he'll be at 13 with Atkin & McGuire the halves. That really would give us attacking options. Obviously he gives cover at half back too which was badly needed.

We are looking quite strong now, the middle 8's will be tough but there are others who will be worrying more than us.

Good signing imo, questionable bloke but if he performs on the pitch all will be forgotten just like VaiVai.

James Ford doesn’t agree with your mate who claims Matty Marsh is bang average. Listening to him on Radio York and reading his comments in York press he is very impressed with him.

Yes marsh is good enough for the championship that’s were he will look good but not super league sorry to say I wish he was good enough

We're 10th in the league and just signed Todd Carney. After Mcguire we had Atkin who is still developing and Marsh who hasn't kicked on yet. This is a great signing for me. If McGuire gets injured we now have a Todd Carney to still lead us round.

Has Carney been playing this season in oz? Undoubted talent but was pretty garbage at less cat and salford

Don’t think so he left northan pride to move back to Sydney and play for north Sydney bears or something souths feeder club but souths won’t let them sign him so he’s a free agent well was

Some Salford fans do not seem to agree. Seem glad he is not playing against them today. I expect they did not see him play as often as you did.
