| Seeing how Rovers are going to bank a large sum of money from the sale of Blake and Scott, will Rovers Board give Sandy a transfer "kitty"?

IMO any monies made will go into the day to day running costs. Instead of losing 500k now maybe well only lose 300k.

| I can't see any money going into a kitty. Maybe spend a bit more on the cap than they have planned (get some of the youngsters signed on long term deals)

| Taken from todays HDM, Neil Hudgell says, in light of denying Rovers are a selling club, "I expect we will bring in three or four more players, depending on who is available, but only at the right price. If the right player comes along we will give it due consideration."
[size=150It looks like CS has a budget after all[/size and looking at the squad as it stands at the moment it probably needs cover at half back and a prop.
I don't know what is available (OOC) but there is a glut of former u20s currently on the market - I doubt very much Rovers will be prepared to pay a fee but NH doesn't appear to have ruled that out in the above statement.

I didn't read Neil's comments like that at all. The phrase "but only at the right price" to me says wages, not transfer fees. I very much doubt we would be paying any fees in the forseeable future.
I also wouldn't say half back cover is our priority. Our wingers & centres are not good enough as a group, and this needs prioritising.

Agreed.

I would assume that Caro would be 1 of the players to arrive. Which would leave 2/3 others. I'd guess 2, or if 3 one is an inexpensive 'project'. If Taylor goes, as seems almost certain now, we need another prop or possibly a loose forward depending on how CS uses Lovegrove.

I was looking at the squad from a 'depth' point of view and not as a 'priority'.
Looking at the wingers - Hodgson and Hall are the experienced players with Caro, Salter and Johnson as back-up. So yes I agree it probably does need strengthening. I've heard the rumour about Hall switching to full back which then really does expose this position.
Looking at the centres - Welham and Gleeson are the experienced players with Salter and Heil as back-up; plus Horne and Paterson as further options - so IMO there's plenty of cover there.
Which then highlights a lack of experience and depth at full back, which I overlooked. Sheriff did a reasonable job when given the chance but maybe an experienced full back to help bring him on in the short term might be an option.
I suggested another half back option but on reflection we have Dobbo, Burns and Hall with back-up from Withers and the youngster Beherral.
But I feel we do need another prop if Taylor does leave! At present we have Paea, Tuimavave, O'hara, Lovegrove, Beaumont, Green (and Taylor). There are other options in the ranks but IMO we need a minimum of six experienced props.

| Any stand-out players in the Championship this year?
The SL ooc list offers only the slimmest of pickings.

| Cant see us paying transfer fees but it would be nice if our own salary cap budget was increase by the fees that we bring in.
In terms of priorities i think we need somebody who can cover 1-5 (an Aaron Murphy type player), somebody who can cover the ball playing positions (a Danny Addy type player) and another big prop such as Richard Moore/ Stuart Fielden depending on availability, wages and fitness.
As has been stated previous there will be plenty of lads who have just been released from their clubs after the changes in the Academy age groups. I wouldnt mind if we went down this route for our signings but could see why the masses wouldnt be impressed.

Perhaps top heavy in 2012 and presently a little light going fwd in 2013. As Geoff Boycott says add a couple of wickets to the score and then see where you are. So a couple of injuries/suspensions and we aren't looking too clever. How the most destructive mobile rampaging pack have fallen.

Just turned 33 and has barely played the last couple of seasons. (Big) If he got right, it'd be great, but even then only in the short-term.
James Donaldson has been out for most of this year as well, but at 21 he could offer a long-term option at 13. [iSignificantly[/i better than Peterson or Griffin? I'm not sure. He'd be a good alternative, if we wanted but can't get Tuson.

James Donaldson showed a lot of promise but we haven't seen much of him in the last couple of seasons IMO to see how well he'd do. Tuson is average imo, bit part at Wigan, he may do well though with getting more game time. Fielden would be a gamble but might be worth a pay as you play deal.

James Green should have got more game time to get him ready for next season imo, weve heard how good he could be, now we need to start seeing it.
