Think you'll find he found a new club weeks ago and it wasn't Rovers decision to release him, it was his decision to leave. Also contrary what many people think Rovers DID want to retain him and he may have stayed, but yet again they ballsed up.

Lee Smith should be a decent signing. As a player he's lost his way a little i'd say, but a new challenge at a new club may just be what he needs. I expect he'll get the No.1 jersey.

I happen to like Colbon and think he's a steady player and a good finisher. He carries the ball like a 2nd rower on the exit sets and his only real flaw is the occasional brainfart under a high ball, something that many wingers struggle with when you have someone like Pat Richards (for example) breathing down your neck.

Lee Smith will be a good acquisition and I'm sure he will play full back. We need another winger now.

Well yes, obviously.

Colbon just isn't a winger for me, I'm actually not sure what he is. A winger to me needs either sustainable pace or explosive pace, good footwork, good hands and good positional sense in defence. I don't think Colbon's got any of these to any great degree, he tries hard, can finish from close range and used to be good (and recently has been better) on exit sets, but that's about it.

tbf a lot of it will be agent talk. Widnes have basically a full cap to spend and the money to do it so agents will use us to drag bigger deals elsewhere more than likely.

Lee Smith would be a cracking signing at FB for you guys IMO. Before Union move I though he was set to be the England FB for years to come. Still has ability just needs to get the form back!

Lee Smith pre-Rugby Union yes a very good player. But since then he is a shadow of what he used to be.

He's hasn't looked SL standard at all and he looks less interested, less lean and less fit than he used to be.

If we can get him back where he was 3 years ago then fine but if he won't do it for Leeds why will he do it for Rovers?

Well IMO that worked out for the best re Colbon, no offence but why would we have wanted to keep him?

We'll agree to disagree about Colbons ability. My point was more about Rovers current approach to retention and recruitment, an approach that is clearly a shambles.

Firstly I think it was a mistake releasing Fox and as for Colbon, I think he has done a good job for us. People have called for a mass change in the squad and for me its not needed. We have had our poorest season in a good while and some players have been in awful form but on previous occasions have shown over a period of time what they are capable of. Two players been Fox and Colbon.

I think Smith is a good player and if true it looks like he could be our first choice No1 for next season.

Who's your oldest most average forward? Maybe we are looking for a swap as we are always on the look out for average, old, $hite forwards

i said last week lee smith would be our full back next season as for colbon never been the same since the injury and i dont know why they dont give hall a go on the wing

Unfortuantely GG, it seems its a 29 year old overseas "international", not even currently playing in a top competition.....

Rovers general recruiment so far could be described as Charlie Romeo Alpha Papa.......or is that the new signing..???
