I'll take a wrap on the knuckles and say he was e early doors this season, then when he got injured it was told he was playing on 60%, knowing the Vella we all know than this is why he was so. A fully fit Micheal Vella would walk into ANY team in SL, you can tell when he is on the pitch, as we seem to make more yards, meters, tackles, breaks, offloads, tries! he just gives the whole team a lift. I suppose if you put it into Joe Publics working day, its the equivelent of your boss taking 4 weeks holiday, and giving no cover, some people/players go lost with no true leadership!

I was very impressed with Mick Vella today.

Hard to believe he is 33.


Definately the stand out player in todays game. Always looked like he was going to bust through Leeds defence (which admittedly was poor)


Am I alone in thinking Willie Mason isn't as good as he was cracked up to be though?

he's not getting involved as i'd lilke but i think he'll come good as he settles in and gets fully match fit

your right Vella was quality, and Mason WILL come good, given time he will come good, i want to see him off the bench for his impact, maybe when Newtons back this may happen

I hope you are right. I just think it looks like a bit of the fire has gone out of Masons belly.

I want to see him making big metres by smashing through defences and not standing for any shiit like he is known for.

Vella had a great game today, as did Galea, well played, stuck at it and got the result, Mason doesnt look interested, cant say he's a bad signing, just doesnt seem with it at the minute? well played

Brillint performance from Vella, was backed up by Galea and Lovegrove. Taylor and Cook for me also put in verygood efforts.

As for Mason, still probably not 100% match fit but put in plenbty of work in defence yesterday. Still I would like to see him at prop.

Great effort from Vella, really stood up to be counted.

seemed to make more yards yesterday, not sure if that was the leeds defence though, 2 or 3 in the tackle but all up top wrestling. good performance, a captains performance, lead from the front.

Have to admit, i thought we had seen the best of Vella and i underestimated how much we would miss him. His leadership is the main thing we have missed with newton out too, it seemed that the lads lifted with mick back in the side. Hopefully he will stay injury free and keep performing well. Anyone else think Clinton was significantly improved too?

No doubt we have missed him. The pack performed much better today, he certainly laid down the marker for the rest of the team and thankfully the team followed.

It was much like the Vella of old ... and that of Rovers too (enthusiasm/crowd/the massive underdog tag/commitment etc)

Vella wants another season if he continues the rest of the season like he did against Leeds hope rovers give him another one. Menzies has continued look how good he is still.

def think Clinton players a lot better with Vella as the other prop seem to have a good understanding, would say best game both have had this season. lets hope it continues on Friday night
