Heard this morning that there are plans in place for Rovers to get £3million from Hull CC, out of the £400million for the development on the new school(s) down Preston Road, as part of a development in school sports (something to do with helping the youngsters when they have P.E. ect.ect.)

Anyone heard anything about this, as its the first thing ive heard since seeing the £7million project pictures ages ago.

I take it that the £400 million figure is a national or regional budget, rather than just for Preston Road?

To sort the confusion M.R. - the £400 million figure is the BSF fund (Building Schools for the Future)

Makes sense, it was always going to need funding partners and this seems ideal.

Seeing as how we've only had maybe two sell-outs in SL so far (and so there's no really need for an increased capacity), can't we just have the 3 million to pay off the debts?!

Well you could fit 14k in Craven Park , it's just that a few more of us would have to go to 'Fitfans ' a bit more.

I've said many times that Morgan is a very good coach, Newton is the dog's bollox, and that you are the best team in the city, as evidenced by your top 4 finish last year vs us cellar-dwellers. To bank £3m for the ground redevelopment is great work in the current environment (even if it is at the expense of the taxpayer)

Absolutely, no matter what peoples perceptions of Prescott are, in reality you do not rise to such office without ability and he will certainly have made some very valuable contacts that will be more than useful.

It may be just a rumour but its what ive heard so thought i would share with my fellow rovers fans, if you dont think its worth talking about then dont post on the subject; it isnt rocket science.

Also its going towards the community as the kids will gain valuable knowledge in sports and general health and fitness for people that are round this top sports enviroment and not just a PE teacher (no disrespect of course), so why shouldnt some of this come from us tax payers? would rather pay towards this then another speed camera

Well some Hull fans got round this problem at Leeds by going in their South Stand for the match.
