I can’t tell you anything definitive only what rumours have been said but the east stand is to be extended out towards the south stand (this was mentioned last season)
And from what i can gather from others the plan now is to have a similar stand like the north placed in the south. (the plan originally was to move the north stand to the south)

He said it was 'his understanding' that at the end of the season the east was to be extended so it would go from each try line and also something would be happening at the scoreboard end.
Be great if it does happen.

| Tbh, and I've said this plenty of times before, I hardly think your priorities should be to yet again extend the east stand. You all moan about how you get very few away fans at CP, yet this wouldnt be the case if you actually had semi-decent facilities for them. Surely your priority in terms of ground development, should be to build a state of the art away stand? I know you had plans proposed to put this in place, but why has it been swept aside? Fair enough Rovers are only trying to accomodate all of their 'home' fans, but I think it's about time your board put some serious thinking into making CP a ground that is fit to facilitate away fans. The difference between CP and likes of Belle vue, Knowsley road, etc, is at those grounds away fans can go and congregate amongst themselves and generate an atmosphere. Whereas at CP, away fans have the choice of standing at the sound end of the ground (not fit to be called a 'stand') and not seeing any of the game, or seat themselves in the 1000 capacity golf stand (half of which is taken up by home fans). And you actually wonder why everyone refuses to go to your ground? I rarely come on this board and 'troll' but I'm afraid issue needs to be raised.

| fair point i think. we're never gonna get top home crowd attendances while we still accomodate so poorly.
i know its a recession, but surely now is the time to get something built as it will cost less, can't imagine too many construction companys are swamped right now, and im sure the work they do have lined up during the off season would gladly take a back seat for a few months til things pick up.

Think KR were relying heavily on funding, unfortunately in the recession the money isn't available.

Fair point, and for the matches where the away support is poor (Catalans, Huddersfield etc) the stand could still be used for our own fans.

| well In my opinion more space in the east stand would mean more fans turning up ,(i hope) in turn more money which means more to spend on facilities. And as already said above the new plan for a “golf stand in the south would mean better views for away supporters (which is the main problem), so if it is a 1200 seat stand then that is more then we need for most away fans (except hull FC

I think from a business point of view, the East Stand should be the priority, as it has been a sell out for every game in the last year since the 1st extension, so clearly the demand is there. Apart from your lot, away support never fills what is offered, and looking at the away numbers that go to the KC (last Sat being a prime example), we could spend millions on a lavish away end and still not get decent visitor numbers.
Many fans in Lancs & West Yorkshire are spoiled by being able to travel 30 miles to attend away games, they see a trip to Hull as akin to climbing Everest.

It'll cost £70k to put another golf stand at the south end. Probably the best part of £200k to finish off the east stand. It's been quoted as costing £6000000 to build the north stand. As EHR has said there is a recession at the present time, but yet unlike Wakefield, Cas, Salford and Saints, Rovers will be starting the work at the end of this season, whilst the others will still be producing computer art work to show what might happen.
Craven Park is far from being the best venue in the league, but at twenty years old it's still a lot more 'modern' than many of the stadiums in the SL.
Rumours of a new ground for Rovers in east Hull crop up now and again, but to be honest, after the deal Hull struck with the council for the KC, I'd sooner we stayed where we are and develop the place to a suitable standard.

i reckon a few do. i dont live in hull any more and when im back i only go to a game if i can get and east stand ticked (everyone i used to go with still has a season ticket) or i can find someone else to come along. had to drag my fc fan brother along a few times...
i know a few people in this situation (who i end going with when possible), you just want to be with your mates, not on your own.

| If this is to go ahead I think it is the best possible solution in the current economic climate.
I would however like us to put a roof on the North stand and make that the dedicated away stand, then the away supporters could at least come and not get wet! I think this would encourage a few more, but as someone else said, a state of the art North stand as proposed, would not see enough improvement in away support to justify getting ourselves too much debt at this point in time. However, it is a must for the future, when and if the government can get this country out of the poop we are in financially.
The extension to the eats stand is a must and I think that will definitely help increase our gate, I know a fair few that, if they can't stand with their mates in the east stand, they pick and choose games to come too.

i think the new north stand will be for home support only and the golf stand moved to the south for the away fans so away fans will still get wet even after the £6million invesment of the north stand but it will make the ground closer and less open and it will be a ground for the future and will be very good for Hull Kr when the improvements are done then we can get rid of the golf stand and consentrate on the south but itl probly be another 6-7 years before a solid south stand is made.

The company Rovers have used to draw up the plans and then build the thing, are the same company that built Oxford United's ground, The KASSAM STADIUM at a cost of fifteen million.
As you can see they left Oxford with the option of a golf stand on one end.

My post was about the temporary situation. When the new state of the art North stand was fisrt talked about, they said that when work began, the golf stand would move to the south and be given a roof.
If that is the case, then they should maybe put the roof on the new golf stand in the south, and then when the new North stand is built, just flog the other golf stand. In my opinion we desperately need to improve the standard of facility we offer away supporters at CP even if it is just a temporary measure.
