Average player for me, what about news on Cockayne.

Good news, the fact that he's English makes it even better.

Very under-rated player with a section of our fans, does all the graft and his size enables our pack to wear out the opposition.

Agreed, but he is 'average' in alot of positions and plays with great enthusiasm which makes him a good asset.

Certainly doesn't run hard enough, really surprised at this as thought he was on his way after Morgan said he would be looking for more go forward down the middle in his close season signings. Only slightly better than Gannon IMO! We need better if we are to improve and progress.

Have read the rumours but can only see Fozzard coming but hope you are right. Carvell is very good when on the pitch but too injury prone for me.

Honestly thought he would be released, but fair play to him he's played every game and has done alright.

Dont forget Liam Colborn.Centre winger or second rower.Would be a much safer bet then Cockayne who can only play at full back.

Can't say I've paid much attention to the grass swaying in the wind like you obviously have. You can just disgree on a forum without making such stupid comments. I think you will find a majority of KR fans will agree that Mills has been a bit of a disappointment, some were even saying he would be before he had pulled on a shirt. Hopefully he will improve and prove me wrong next season.

My mates all say he is average at best. Does this really mean though Scruton and Fozzard rumours may be wrong, or only one? For me, I would try and get Scruton if it was just one. Just my opinion.

he will be a good option as a replacement for steel. Can cover wing just as well as him but as you say can also cover other positions. Bit srprised at the mills deal, this means one of either scruton or fozzard aren't cmin, my moneys on scruton

Me too! I like Fozzard but Scruton has age on his side. Not over excited about the rumoured prospect of Colborn coming to be honest but must admit haven't really watched him closely enough to judge him fully.

Mills had looked better over recent games but he was appalling in the quins game, saying that who wasn't? I think we need to gve players time to settle and hopefully he will show improvement next season, he just needs to watch Macca run and do some of the same.

Cockayne is a good squad player who can cover a lot of positions, he can definitely give the team a lift when coming off the bench and if the season has shown one thing (and Hull fans should know this more than most) you need squad players cos the likelyhood of getting the starting 13 on the pitch seems to less likely as the SL goes on. If we let him go would we get a better back up player I doubt it, add to this his heart is in the club and he'll be a great boost when re-signed.


Scruton isn't coming here the liklihood will be Fozzard and possibly Colburn and that'll be it. This for me will give us a better platform for next year as we need some squad consistency to progress.

With Vella, Crossman and Mills signed up for 2009 (or beyond), the seemingly almost certain arrival of Fozzard and Aizue probably staying (otherwise why would we need a dispensation for Gene?) that will give us much better depth and competition for places at prop. We have been lucky with injuries there this season tbh. If our back row injuries had have hit our front row instead, we'd have been knacked.
Watts may get a few more games next year, as well.

I think vella and fozzard are the senior props out of those. However we have seen that Garrett Crossman is far better starting games then he is off the bench. I think i would possibly start with Crossman and Fozzard using Vella and Makka off the bench.

I'd start with Vella, with Fozzard off the bench. If they are all fit, I think the positive thing is that they can each have the odd week off. People have been critical of Mills and Crossman, and even Vella has sometimes looked a little jaded - but they have been playing week in, week out.

When we had Vella, Ward, Gannon, Aizue, Tangata-Toa and Tandy last year Morgan rotated them and though on paper our opponents usually looked stronger, on the pitch we often looked fresher.

I agree Cockayne's versatility has been a revelation this season and things certainly start to happen when he comes on, even Stevo seems to rate him! Cockayne would be a very difficult and expensive player to replace IMO.

I too think more than Fozzard and Colborn will be coming, but as to who? It will be interesting to see but Morgan said he and Hudgell have a 'list' of players to talk to!? He has ruled out Aussie signings tho, unless that was just a smokecreen.
